Can't Play With Mods in game anymore?

I have no idea whats going on with my game guys, It was fine yesterday and last night. I downloaded some custom content and put in my mods folder and ever since then my game keeps crashing when I put my mods folder back in. I took everything out of mods folder and even wiped it clean, after that the game runs fine when I don't have my mods folder in but as soon as I put it back my game instantly crashes for some unknown reason. I tried cleaning the caches, even uninstalled my game which I wasn't planning to, to see if it work yet it just keep crashing. Every time it crashes I also get an xcpt file in folder..its just strange, my game has never had this problem before now it just seems like it broken when ever I put mods in it. This is sort of a bummer because there are mods I would really like to continue using, not mention is how i get my cc in the game. Any Idea's how I can get it to work again?

  • -Always check .packages with Delphy's Dashboard (Checks for corruptions, conflicts, etc) although not all issues will present itself so be mindful of that. http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=387006 You need to pinpoint which CC is causing a problem by only placing in one CC at a time to see how the game reacts. When you come across CC that crashes or causes other issues in your game then investigate why. Is it up-to-date according to your patch level? Is it no longer maintained by the creator? Is it corrupted or incompatible with another mod?

-If you download a Sims3Pack and want to check its contents, use this. http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=390235 If you want to change a Sims3Pack into a .package file use this. http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=364038

If you haven't tried this already, I would start by removing whatever CC you added last since it didn't start to do this until you put more CC in your Mods folder. It's possible that something in those files either didn't mesh well with what you already have or were not made correctly.

If you already did this, then it's possible that something has corrupted in your game files. I would rename your TS3 folder or remove it to somewhere safe and start the game to generate a new one. Follow this guide by Crinrict to put your essential files and folders back into your new TS3 folder: http://sims3.crinrict.com/en/2011/06/tutorial-resetting-the-game-to-factory-settings-without-reinstalling.html
  • Thank you guys, just wondering how do I read and what should I look for in those crash logs that are made? There's 2 files..Will it tell me cause of the crash?
  • Most of the time those crash logs tell you that either the game is starved for memory (RAM) or you have suspicious CC/mods without pointing directly at the cause. Can you run with one safe mod in place? Or just NRaas mods? If so, then the best way to proceed is usually to test your package files by putting half of the rest of them in. If it's fine, then half of what remains. If it crashes, then take half of the half back out. Proceed backwards and forwards by remaining halves, clearing cache files each time, until you can isolate the culprit(s).
  • I think I might of figured it out, I accidentally downloaded cc for the sims 4. Ugh the stuff looks so similar to sim 3cc its hard to tell cause its either a conversion or the cc creator doesn't bother to say its content for the sims 4. But It just a guess, still making sure the game play or not by putting cc in one at time.
  • One at a time sounds awfully tedious, but that also depends on how many items you have to test. Yeah, TS4 content would not be healthy in there.

@Mandy3970, you might want to go over to the Nraas site and post your issue over there.
