Chat Time (Sims 3)

I've decided to start a thread for chatting about The Sims 3. One person leaves a question and the others answer it, chat a little, then someone else leaves a question. You can leave a question whenever you like and answer more than one question at a time. I'll begin: Describe your favorite sim in your current household.

  • I can only 1 and two since I never bothered buying an expansion (i had one in my hand but i bought something else in radioshack instead)
    1. Sunset Valley. Adding new worlds kind of lags my game. I had a few installed before but I always found myself rushing back to Sunset Valley. I guess its because i get a sentimental feeling from the first time I played sims 3. Another reason is the size and the number of large lots. Some of the other worlds have too much small lots and even when i manually edit the town and bulldoze the first building, I just feel like i dont have enough space for what i want.
    3. Eight. The mother and father had three kids and when the first member got married, they had twins. After I moved them out into a good house. the second kid got married and had a kid and the parents had another kid, which lead to the thrid kid moving in his gf because he finally got moved into his older sisters bedroom.
So The family was alway at 8 until the parents got too old to have more kids and the youngest (who inherited the house) kicked everyone out after the parents retired.
Sorry, that was a mouthful. PS: Don't have an eight family household with pregnant and baby sims randomly around. No one gets sleep and the mother goes into labor at the worst time

    1. Do you guys use base game families, or do you fill your neighborhood with custom-made families?

I may add one or two families created by myself to a town I move into but for the most part I would rather play with the townies already provided for me. Each of them has their own potential and I like having my Sims interact with them and see how they respond. It can be rewarding for me to find my Sim a mate in amongst the townies rather than create one myself.

    2. Do you add families to your neighborhood for the sake of your current family (like, you want your sim to have a best friend or potential mate)

As with my first question...only occasionally. I prefer my Sims to direct me in their love life. If they show an interest in a townie or npc then of course I'll immediately pounce on them and add them to the family so they dont disappear or become attached to someone else. I once had a Sim fall in love with her butler (at Uni no less) so before she graduated I made sure to add him and when she went home he went with her.

    3. Do you force your sim to another even though they weren't attracted to the sim at the beginning?

Never. If my Sim has no interest in the mate I've picked for them then I move the mate out and let my Sim decide for themselves who they want. Sometimes their choices can shock me. But there is no forcing love so I let them be.

    4. Do you ever break up a family because your sim is attracted to a married sim?

I've considered it a few times but no. I couldnt do that. It would be traumatic especially if there is children involved. I'd rather have my sim be in an unrequited love than break up a family.

    1. What is your favorite world and why?

I am actually torn between Appaloosa Plains, Hidden Springs and Aurora Skies. So I will chose all 3. They each offer my Sims a different perspective and each time I play in them the game is different. I like Appaloosa Plains because of the fact that is a horse based town. Hidden Springs reminds me of Oregon. Lots of trees and places to escape to nature. And Aurora Skies is a beautiful town with unique Sims and hotsprings. All 3 towns are special and I love playing in each of them.

    2. What expansion pack do you feel improved your gameplay the most? What feature was most important?

Out of all the expansion packs Seasons and Pets have greatly improved my game play. I love seeing wild animals (horses racoons etc...) and all the different weather patterns that can be experienced in a single day. I love snow and experiencing winter for the first time while my Sims celebrated Christmas was such a pleasant experience. I also love ITF. I find the Plumbots simply adorable and the fact that my Sims could learn the Advanced Technology skill 4x faster by living there really made my day. Each Expansion has features that enhance and enliven game play but for me its Pets, ITF and Seasons.

    3. What is the largest family you've ever had?

My current family is my largest I've played to date. At one point I had 22 facial tiles on my screen (I'm playing a 50 Foals challenge so some of those are from my Sims horses and pets). I've provided a picture ^_^

  • Update: I went into Miriam's household and realized her relationship with her husband was the reddest it could be. I had her husband divorce her (I feel he wouldn't want to be stuck in a toxic relationship.), but that only caused more drama. It turns out the kids all dislike Hubert and Miriam is evil.
    @ElijahsBabyGurl9 That's a huge household!
