cloud save V manual external hard drive saves

I am wondering if any players have gone from manually backing up their files such as package files mods/cc saves and possibly a complete save folder now and again in the cloud.

I play Sims 2-4 on one desktop PC and all my saves/mods/cc are currently all over the place across several spare internal & external hard drives and as my main desktop hard drives are getting full again I need to try and find an easier way to backup files as the constant transferring of hundreds of package files from one drive to another is doing my noodle in frankly as I am constantly receiving messages that package files are too long and having to go through them almost one by one which I will eventually give up on as there are so many of them so I am wondering if it would be easier to use the cloud or would I experience the same package file too long message going back and forth when I need to use them? Or are there any other negatives I might need to know before trying this route out.

I have also been told there is no such thing as a reliable program that can shorten package file names so I have not presently looked/tried for anything like that in case it would make anything worse.

I have never used cloud before so am hoping someone has some experience in this matter..
