Sorry, but none of us actually own software like this. What we actually purchased was a license to run it and EA is entitled to change its own terms of service whenever they like. But the terms under which you obtained the Origin versions of those stuff packs are not the same terms under which one obtains disc versions. You can still go the disc route and avoid Patch 1.69 (before it's already happened), if you can find retail copies of them. And either way, there is no limit to one machine install per pack if it's for the same user, but the Origin way you just can't play the game (with the SP) on more than one Internet connected machine at the same time.
I've been on Patch 1.69 for a few months now and honestly, I don't like it. But EA has done nothing improper here, except to be annoying.
This. I had some origin copies of SP's and just went on Amazon and bought the discs (reasonably priced, too) and am still on 1.67 just fine. And several of us in this house have my Sims 3 (and 1.67) on our machines. I've installed thru the discs more times than I can count, on multiple machines. I also have my sims 3 thru origin and on 1.69 on my laptop and it doesn't interfere with our disc version installs either.
