error (-5005: 0x80070002)

That is an installer issue, happens to Vista with several games. try this.

Hold the windows key on your keyboard and press the r button > The Run dialogue should appear > Type C:\Program Files\Common Files into the text box and click OK
Right-click the InstallShield folder, and select Rename > Change the name to InstallShieldOld > Start the game installation again to reinstall the InstallShield components with the newest version.

Just want to say that that didn't help at all... getting same error. ><

Yeah that didn't work for me either. Is there any other way I can remove the game?

I have the revouninstaller and it says there are so sims 3 or world adventures files on my computer...but when I try to reintall sims3...I still get the same error message. So now what?

I have followed your instructions however there is no Installshield folder under common files. In fact, there is no folder called installshield anywhere in my computer according to the search program. What does that mean? Any ideas?

well this generally mean's from your currently saying is you are running a 64 bit which naturally based on the search in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\ coming up with nothing in that folder representing the searched item, so in that case the search should be for x64 users C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ and that should find the folder \installsheild easily

I just want to say thank you soooo much DariaPlyr, revouninstaller did exactly what I needed! I had the same problem, I was trying to uninstall the Sims to install it again (Sooo any problems with this game :/) and an error message kept coming up. I can finally reinstall it again after what feels like a year of desperately wanting to play! HAHAHA :)

I'm gutted! I just got a brand new Sony Vaio with a big dedicated video card so that The Sims 3 would run perfectly. It wouldnt work for me, I was getting a "there was an error during startup. see log for details" error, so i wanted to uninstall and reinstall, and so I did, but it didn't work, so I did a system restore, and at this stage I can't even uninstall the thing.

I am so frustrated! I have all the EP's and SP's so it's been taking me ages to do this.

Please, any help would be extremely appreciated.

Get a program called ccleaner (it is your friend) from Piriform (there is a free version) and use it to clean the registry.

oxOllie182xo - system restore should only be used when all else has failed. There are tools to uninstall, even a manual uninstall. You know the state of your computer but you just want to uninstall. Doing a system restore puts your whole computer in an unknown state. Try ccleaner - registry - fix all. Hopefully that may clean things up enough for a fresh install.
