I noticed today that the Sims 3 is on Steam. I'd love to buy some of the expansions from them, but how will I use them with the game/expansion packs that I already use through Origin? Will I be able to transfer what I buy on steam to Origin? I'd really prefer to only use one client. Have any of you taken advantage of this? What did you do? Were you able to use them together? You can transfer Sims 3 DLC from Steam to Origin, but to be able to buy them you need Sims 3 base game on Steam. The only differnce now is the Steam is on 1.67 patch the Origin version is now 1.69.

You can not transfer base game or DLC from Origin to Steam. But when you buy any EA game on Steam you will get mostly time key for Origin.

If you register the games bought by steam in the sims 3 store, they get added to your origin account. Unfortunately, you can't do that the other way and play origin games on steam.

What you might be remembering (maybe?) is that we cannot mix installation types on the same computer, or at least not for the same user. It still worked earlier this year. If I remember correctly, there was some link showing up on the left side of the store screen. It didn't ask for any codes. It's all a bit hazy in my memory, but as my accounts were both old, I had to link my Sims3 account with my Origin account, which may not apply to you.

I was told that you couldn't mix and match between Steam and Origin. I ended up buying the entire series on Steam.

Can I ask one more question? When I had the Sims 3 installed on my computer a couple years ago I had to jump a few hoops to get it to recognize my graphics card. Is that still an issue? Will I have to look up how to do that again? I remember it being immensely helpful in my game's performance. Infact, I think igazor above you is the one who helped me set it up. I am so sad I traded Sims 3 in for 4, haha.
