The patch that came out alongside of Showtime provided the Fried Peanut Batter and Banana recipe book to all players, so sims were able to learn it but no one was able to prepare it unless they also had the Showtime EP since bananas were a required ingredient. Custom bananas won't work.
Is it possible you at one time had icarus' Cook With Any Ingredient mod? Seems like that should have allowed your sims to prepare the dish once they learned the recipe, but using different ingredients including possibly custom bananas.
