Glitch in genetics?

It could be a glitch, of course. But both with and without mods, there is a fair amount of mutation allowed in genetics where one or more attributes might just wander away from that of both parents. NRaas SP in particular allows more (or less) of such wandering than without by way of General Options > Options:Pregnancy, and the mod also allows for genetics to be inherited from grandparents if they exist in the same world whether living or dead. How many such options are available to tweak within the mod depends on whether its Advanced Genetics function is being used, that one requires the SP Population add-on module. There is a also the "red haired stepchild" scenario, which can be switched off if wanted, whereby the child looks nothing at all like either parent. That's just an expression, the kids don't always get red hair.

Without mods, things can be more random and not controllable until after the baby is old enough to be brought into CAS.

There's also always a 10% (or maybe it's 15%) chance for hair color mutation unless that is modded out.

Regardless though, obviously these haven't turned out to be identical twins. :)

The SP Population add-on module adds a feature to the mod called, explicitly, Advanced Genetics. SP Extra is referenced in the documentation, it used to be part of that, but got switched over years ago. I think both modules are required for some of the more advanced options.

When Advanced Genetics is not switched on, or the module is not there, then EA genetics are used subject to SP's other fine tuning under General Options > Options:Pregnancy.

is the biggest surprise I ever got with a baby´s skin. Both her parents seem to have a normal (pretty pale) skin. But it turned out, it was perfectly logical: Her dad, who is holding her, has his skin on the blue/green scale. Combined with her mum´s skintone position on the brown scale and the vampire glow, little Catherine is fluorecent green.

I did have story progression at that point but no advanced genetics. Sometimes EA genetics does funny things.

Neglected to mention this, but there is also the option of using MasterController's Play With Genetics function on an existing sim. By selecting the two genetic donors (parents), one can re-roll the genetics and use the age function (doesn't really change the target sim's age) to see what they would look like with each re-roll and accept one (checkmark) if it seems more suitable than what they got at birth.

If Advanced Genetics is activated, PwG will use that. If not, it will use EA's genetics.

My two cents concerning genetics in a vanilla game: like clockwork. If there’s one thing we’ve always been able to rely on in Sims 3 it’s genetics. In a modded game I don’t know (the mods I have never caused strange genetic results).

@igazor so if i installed the popylation mkd, what exactly eould that be able to do? You say advanced genetics, meaning it will more likely or less to inherit attrbutes?
