Help Creating World

A while back, I had some severe computer problems and did a complete reset. I backed up my custom content folders to my desktop so I wouldn't lose everything. Oooops. I created links to the folders on the desktop, not the folders themselves. Everything was lost. I was working on my own custom world and now it is so buggy from substitutions, I am getting endless messages about unroutable sims. There are so many problems, it's not playable, nor feasible to fix them all. It will be easier to start over.

I want my own world to match the expansion packs I have. Pets that are out wandering the neighbourhood, need chew toys in the parks and puppies don't like foundations (now that we have basements, foundations are not needed for them) and I get many unroutable messages about them getting stuck. Bands need rehearsal space and clubs (including pool/pingpong table etc) to play in to become a success. Generations adds all kinds of wishes for hopscotch etc. but there are no hopscotch courts anywhere, nor any of the other great playground or hobby equipment. University provides the Science Research Station station etc (I'd love a custom Science Centre with Rabbithole rugs and a hidden lab (WA)) Those rugs are handy with a school in the game I'm playing now. Multiple rugs in a custom school is similar to multiple doors. The kids get in and out quicker. I don't understand why people usually create full graveyards with no ghosts. I'd like them to start empty and fill up with sims/ghosts as the game goes on. I'd like mine to have underground catacombs with hidden chambers to explore as well as places to store burial urns.

I've been playing in some worlds where everything is spread out and it takes forever for them to get around. I'd like a central park surrounded by rabbit holes and other public properties (incl. a Nectar club and a Dojo in the gym). I'd like a park for weddings. I've tried some, but they tend to be crowded and sims in everybody's way. The bridge to the island was a joke for them to cross. The wedding party was over before the guests were seated. The main area will be a small island world, but on a large map. The four corners are other islands with a lot of World Adventure hidden areas to explore. I'm more into creating puzzles to keep them interesting, than loot heaps, but there will be special things there such as a butterfly paradise with a vast number of rare spawners.

I want a slum residential area, probably behind the dive bars. All the slum housing I could find was on large lots with junk piles and wrecked cars. I'd like small houses on small lots. All homes need pet beds, chew toys, cribs, and plenty of beds for all the kids they will have eventually. A lot of the stuff will disappear for those who do not have the expansion packs. Specialized lots will be included for things like a horse ranch that can be placed separately, as well as providing the Create-A-World files so other users can tweak it to their own preferences.

This will be a lot of work, and I will never do it all myself. Anybody want to help?

    Hi :)

You have a map lay out already?

How many lots do you have planned for your main area to keep it small?

I'm assuming you need lots. Did you make a list of all the lots you need? I'll build one for you, if I can. :)

Cool~ This is to be on the one small, main island? Do you have pictures of your world's layout?

I'm still on mediafire because I'm too lazy to move all my files to another site. :)
  • I think I will try to recover a lot of my downtown core. A 60x60 central park with a Gazebo for a band, fountain, chess area, restrooms, BBQ/picnic in the middle of Tic-Tac-Toe sidewalks. 60x30 lots on each side for the school, city hall, Market (book, grocer, theatre, bistro) and health care (Hospital & Spa). 30x30 corner lots for library, police, business centre, art gallery. A square of road goes around all that. The Park was getting decent, but I never did finish it. I loved the fountain. Too many people hung out in the bathrooms. What's with that? Most of the other lots were still fairly spartan with little more than the rabbit-hole buildings. I really want a custom school with a bunch of Generations playground equipment (also computer lab, art class, science lab etc) and a basketball net and 4 rabbit-hole rugs to facilitate entry.

On the other side of the road, a strip of dive bars on one side, the arena and wedding park, a rec centre (swimming pool, pool table etc, bowling alleyx2 and band practice stage) and on the forth, a museum (to display all those relics from WA), a nectary (no growing grapes, but cash register to buy them) a couple of lounges maybe. I hadn't decided. I was going to put the slum behind the dive bars on 12x15 or15x20 lots, no foundations to be pet friendly. There will be a high income residence area on a bluff overlooking the ocean/island on one corner. I also need other residences of various value.

I also need a place to put files that can be shared. Any suggestions?
  • I think I'll use dropbox. I'll pull the town core together from what I can salvage. One of the biggest reasons to ask for help is Depression. Getting things done is not part of my skill set any more. It shouldn't take too long though to salvage some stuff.
  • I've set up a Mediafire account and uploaded the first version of the world to it. This is just the downtown portion so far to start with. Everything is packed into a .rar file. I'm sure you all know how to open this. The file contains:

    • the playable (not really because there are no homes yet) install file
      • Pala A.Sims3Pack

    • the CAW files put these into (...Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Create A World Tool\UserToolData\Worlds)
      • Pala A.world
      • (folder) Pala A

    • 2 HTML files of notes
      • Neighbourhoods.htm - sort of a map of sorts with addresses etc. for reference
      • Notes and Custom Content.htm - I'll separate these when it gets too big

        • a list of custom content I'm using. I'll try to keep it to a minimum. I'm not sure I have everything
          listed.
        • notes of what I'm hoping to accomplish

      Pala A

I hope I did this right. I've never done this before.
