How good are these specs to play The Sims 3?

The weak spot there I'm afraid is the graphics card. A GT 1030 is relatively recent but it's a low-end card and will be expected to struggle with the heaviest of the EPs (Pets, Seasons, possibly IP and ITF). Very high graphics settings in Game Options may also be too much for it. But the system should be able to handle the base game and the lighter weight EPs up to a point. To compare the card to that of a prior series, performance should be about the same as the somewhat older GT 940Ms.

To be honest I don't understand why your buying an APU if your not going to use it. On the flip side I would recommend getting a used Ryzen 7 2700 or get new one like Ryzen 5 3600 that is on sale. I would highly recommend getting used 1070 or 1060 6 Gb graphic card. But if you can't afford that I would recommend AMD Rx 570 or 580.

Hi, regarding your first question, it is a new PC build. However, what do you mean by your second question? Are you asking if I know which Motherboard I’m going to have put into the computer or are you asking if I actually have a motherboard lying around?

Yes I asking some people like to list their motherboard or say they have the motherboard. I just like to make sure people use a motherboard that is compatible with their CPU. You don't have to go update the bios with older generation CPU from the get go.

I would go find a used Ryzen 7 2700 or Ryzen 2000 CPU on sale not worry about having to upgrade the bios. To be honest if you got Ryzen 3000 CPU you would have to have Ryzen 2000 CPU to upgrade the bios to support Ryzen 3000 CPU.

I wasn't reading where the OP was shopping for a computer or looking to upgrade one, but rather assumed this is what they already had and wanted to know what to expect from it as is. Perhaps I misinterpreted.

I have higher settings than yours and unfortunately my sims 3 is completely locked. I stopped playing it because of this. :'(
