How to make someone stop being a paparazzi?

I have my two four star celebrity daughters of my celebrity family in university right now. The other one of them just asked Leonard Shelly to go steady with her, and I'm planning on getting them married once she graduates.

The thing is, the game seems to make random townies into paparazzi. Normally I wouldn't care so much, actually I've never found the paparazzi a very big problem, but suddenly in my game, Leonard is a paparazzi! And he's also my sim's boyfriend. So, I really would like to find a way to stop him from being a paparazzi.

I obviously can't change to playing with him to change his career, because I'm in the university world. And anyway, I don't know if I could give him a career, since he's supposed to be a student. I'm also afraid to even try to make him a part of my household before my sim is back to her home world for good. I've heard about so many strange glitches with sims being added to households...

My sim-girls are at the university for their second term, and they're there only a week. So, I guess I could just hope he's not a paparazzi any more on their next term.

Or does anyone have any other idea of what to do?

  • I have switched my active household while at University before and then switched back. I did it to make certain changes to my sim brothers' NPC-generated girlfriends and make them fall in love with their beaus. I then switched back and had no problem with the brothers finishing university, going back home and later inviting their girlfriends to their home world for proposals.

I wasn't sure at the time whether it would work, so I saved the game under another name, but now I know that it's not a problem. (I did use NRaas Master Controller to make the household switch, though, so maybe that was a factor. Still, you may be able to do it with the regular EA active household switch.)

I say back up your game or save as another name and then give it a shot.

EDIT: BTW, with NRaas mods, you have the option to change any sims' career and traits, etc. by just clicking on them, even if you don't actively control them. It sounds like you don't use that mod, though, so the household switch is probably your best bet.)
  • I have noticed that when it comes to University and the paparazzi, the game seems to rotate them. So the next time your sim returns back to the university, that other sim will be something else the next time.

Thanks both of you! I don't use mods, and wouldn't like to try. I guess I'll just try to deal with it ultil the end of the current term, and hope he's not a paparazzi anymore when the girls return for the next one.

In case he's still a paparazzi... I guess I'll have to try to switch families and do something... (I do a lot of "save as" during any university stay anyway) It's just that I don't know how I could give him a career, because there probably aren't any in the university world...

Let's hope you're right LaBlue0314, and he just stops being a paparazzi the next time the girls enroll :) Only hope Jeffrey Dean isn't one then, because my other girl just went steady with him...
  • Well you could when your sim goes home, call and invite the boyfriend for a visit. Once he get there, ask him to move in. Then he wouldn't be a paparazzi.

I guess, but then I'd have to play him too, and I don't want to do it before I'm done with university... I think the rotation might be true, because now that I think of it, one of the girls in the dorm where my sims stay was a paparazzi during their first term. And now she isn't.

I guess I'll just hope everything goes well on their next term... It might even be their last. Haven't decided yet, if I have them take 6 or 12 credits.
