Imaginary Friend Glitch?

I'm not sure if this is a glitch or not but one of my Sims Imaginary Friend just suddenly decided to show up at their house. The Imaginary Friend had been put away in this Sims inventory for quite a while. It still shows the Imaginary Friend toy in his inventory but the Imaginary Friend just randomly decided to come to my Sims house looking almost like a regular Sim except he still had the light bulb thing on his head and still walked like the Imaginary Friends do. Also the option to offer to make them a real Sim is gone. He also aged transitioned to Adult after he came in the house. I have never made one of them into a real Sim before yet. My Sims Imaginary Friends name is Jelly Bean and it was kind of nice to have it put away because this one is annoying and not very nice so I would like to have it put back away. If I put the toy back out and when my Sim leaves the house will the Imaginary Friend go back to to it's original state and I can put it back into my Sims inventory and not have it out being annoying? My Sim has two children that also have Imaginary Friends. I don't particularly want three of them in my Sims house. Also, is it a glitch that my Sims Imaginary Friend came in looking like an almost real Sim or is that just something that happens after they have been put away in a Sims inventory for quite a while?

@Simmer2500 - I tend to use the table too...the rainbow gems can bring in a lot of simoleons and I don't particularly like wasting them on an imaginary friend so I wait for the sims to gain the knowledge to make all the potions.

If I don't feel like messing with either. TA (NRAAS Master Controller>Advanced>Total Annihilation) works great too. ~evil smirk~

Oh, it sounds like the kind of mod that would make the Imaginary Friend die. I don't use mods in my game and wouldn't use that kind of one to get rid of them if I did but sometimes I wish it would let me sell the Imaginary Friend toy out of their inventory like it lets you do with other things but it won't let you do that.
  • @Simmer2500 I have noticed some sims discover the potions super fast and others seem as if they are never going to get there. They don't seem to need the genius trait to do it fast but I'm sure it helps. I always try to get my sims the Fast Learner lifetime reward early on but still the time it takes for them to discover potions and grow their logic skill varies. They need level 8 in logic to be able to make the Imaginary Friend potion.
  • Given my families tend to end up on the wealthy side, I have one sim discover all potions and then buy additional potions afterwards. The opportunity doesn't even save any money, and you waste a valuable gem.

For example, in my current game, the granddad is still making the potions for the extended family, even for other households. One of his grandchildren just discovered the potion himself (as his second potion, no less), so I should be set for a while.

The vanilla way to achieve this is to just gift the doll to another sim. That works. Do it before the game generates the sim that accompanies the doll.

Once it's in their inventory it's considered theirs, so how would you gift it to another Sim before it gets to their inventory if that's what you mean?

I did the same thing with one of my households. I had no problems moving the potion from the making sim's inventory to the other sim's inventory. I just dragged it across.

It was in another game where I had a lot of Imaginary Friends and the game had been running for a long time and they had millions of simoleans and I'd already had a lot of sims make their own potion and was tired of it and one sim had found all of the potions and just seemed to love making potions so I got her to make a few extra imaginary friend potions. They cost over 4,000 simoleans each but that cost didn't make a dint in their wealth.

Oh, yeah that's true you could move the potions to another Sims inventory. That seems like a good idea when you have a lot of Imaginary Friends in the game and end up with a lot of the potions. Of course it would have to be a Sim that was already in the household to move it to another Sims inventory but if you wanted it to be for a Sim not in the same household maybe you could gift the potion to another Sim that's from another household.

Or you could temporarily move that other sim to your sims household.
  • Another way I’ve obtained rainbow gems is by breaking space rocks on the board breaker. In one of my saves, I have a teen Sim who has the “make my IF real” opportunity and needs to find a rainbow gem. Her mother has mastered martial arts and the family has already obtained a lot of gems via her skill. The mum did already get a rainbow gem with the board breaker, but she got it cut and it’s being used as house decor. Both her parents also have the Collection Helper lifetime reward too. In any case, the household is already at capacity so I’d have to wait to make the IF real. The teen’s four younger siblings also have IFs... I don’t mind them overall. I’ve only made an IF real twice.
