Hi, a couple of days before, I got a free descent pc computer. It has been 3 years old. The spec is i7 8700K 3.7 Ghz, 16 Gbs ram with GTX 1080 Ti graphics card. All packs are installed through Origin, and the patch version is 1.69. No lag in CAS and Live mode. It happens only in buy/build mode. Also it lags a bit when my saved world is appeared, but the lag just disappears after a couple of mins. I haven't had any lag in build buy mode on my old I mac with lower specs than this. Almost unable to drag the color palette to any objects for styling on this PC. I don't have any ccs related with buy build mode but have almost over 2 Gbs of store items installed. Would the store items cause this lag?

Is your game installed in a SSD or HDD? With 2GB of store items I would expect build/buy mode to take a long time to load stuff in a HDD. Maybe your old computer had a SSD, so it loaded faster the stuff in build/buy mode. I don’t think the Video Card has anything to do with this.

I have a lot of store items for TS3, and it sometimes lags a lot. Especially in build and buy mode. I have a GTX 2060, 32gb of RAM and 4.1Ghz and it still lags! I fixed most of the lag though by manually enabling the Nvidia graphics card to enable V-Sync and a hard FPS cap. It didn't completely eliminate it, but it definitely helped :)

I've been building a world without my mods and store content folders in the game and I still have issues when it comes to Build Mode. Especially when using CAS to recolor things. It's ok for a little while but after a time it just stops working with other parts of the UI messing up, like using the mouse wheel to turn the camera, among other things.So, I have come to the conclusion that this is a "game" thing, not a custom/store content issue. It pretty much runs the same whether I have my mods/store content folders in the game or out of the game.

Is that normal to have a few lag in build/buy mod with Geforece GTX 1080 Ti?

Hello, that's a common bug, I'm not sure what's causing it.

Things that helped for me was turning off vsync in my graphics settings and you can also press the game menu button (the three dots in the upper right) when it starts lagging and it helps.

The link you suggested is the Sims 4 but I'm the Sims 3 simmer. :) Of course I have the sims 4 too but have no problem in build mode in my sims 4 game.:) Thanks anyway.

I think I found the solution for my game. Not sure this will be a good solution for other simmers though. I've been having, 'compatibility mode' alert on origin every time I start Origin. I asked my spouse and he solved all issues I had on Origin and the lagging in the sims 3. He opened the compatibility mode menu by right cliking the Origin shortcut, and clicked 'Change High DPI Setting', then disabled 'overrides highDPI scaling behaviour. Then, what happened is that I'm able to disable 'You are currently in Windows compatibility mode' alert while starting Origin, the few lag has gone on live mode when the game started, and the lagging in build/buy mode has gone. But only one bad thing I got after this. Before disabling high DPI setting thing, the game graphics was much higher and sharper but now a bit more blurry.

ah, sorry, I misread, the sims4 have the exactly same problems right now so I thought it was the sims4. Good to hear that you managed to find something that fixed it.

Do you have userpreset file in the sims 3 folder? How big is that if you have?

Jeansoo - my user preset file is 1 mb. Does this have something to do with edit mode/cas acting up?

That means you rarely saved your own created pattern in build/buy mode or hair color or recolored clothing in CAS. For me, if the size get bigger than 50 mbs, then the lagging starts in the buy mode. Or...it gets lagging you are trying to style any object while 'buydbug' cheat is on.
