Is there a way, I can have a sim as a firefighter, but not deal with it myself?

The reason I'm asking is because the sim I'm playing has fallen in love with a firefighter. He actually started out as an NPC firefighter (Valentin Frye from Bridgeport), but I moved him over to Lucky Palms. He ended up going back to work as a firefighter again, but the one that came with Ambitions. I really don't feel like playing that career, and was wondering if there is any way I can just send him off to work, and let him do his thing on his own?
  • As an experiment, assuming NRaas mod usage, you might want to try making this sim non-selectable using NRaas MasterController. If you have StoryProgression engaged, that should progress the career of the non-selectable sim in the active household while you are unable to control him.

In this case, and in a couple of other Ambitions careers, I very much doubt you will see him fighting fires and rescuing sims on his own unless some real fires generated by forces other than the career happen to take place around town, as the scenarios generated by the career are indeed designed for active play. But they should still be making a stipend the same as other career firefighters and slowly move up (or down) the career ladder. If you don't like the effect, or if you do want to control him yourself during off duty hours, then this can easily be undone again.
  • No. Only NPC do that. The game controls NPC. Once you move an NPC sim in to your active household, that sim becomes an active playable sim just like the sims you create for the game. Switch his career to a rabbit hole if you don't want to play the firefighter career.
