Is there a work around for a lot issue?

I was putting in some residential homes, on some empty lots in Sunset Valley. One of the homes changed from residential to Owned. I'm guessing it has to do with renting a location when a sim goes on vacation. Anyways, when I noticed it, I changed it back. But when I later started up my game again, that lot had reverted back to being owned. I attempted to change this lot back to residential 4 times. After that, I deleted the house and turned this into an empty lot. The now-empty lot has again reverted back to Owned. I'm about ready to delete the empty lot if I can't find a way to stop it. Is there a way to fix this?
  • Here's what I found searching the topic. Hopefully this helps.

@crimsonnclover324 is correct. Change the lot type to Commercial, Save, then change to Residential.
This fix also works for the Apartment lot type that came with University Life EP. That lot type is also 'sticky'
  • This happened to me this morning. ??‍♂️?

I put a residential house where a bar was, I selected residential when choosing but it still stayed a bar! The couple owned it. I had to move them out, go into the lot and change it to residential. When the couple moved back I could only choose unfurnished.
I had to motherlode and replace the house with a fresh copy to get the furniture back.

The couple are now settled. ?
