Well fist of all you should upload a sims to your studio with your avatar. then just go where you usually go to change it but instead of "default avatars" in the dropdown menu in the right upper corner you should chose uploaded avatars. I don´t know if you know how to change a photo of your uploaded sims's but if don´t, just let me know :wink::)
