Little avatars not matching up with elder faces

I noticed after my Sim Marie turned to elder, the little avatar of her face didn't change. It still showed her as being younger. Next time I logged in, the avatar on the left with the household members, it showed an elder face but when I selected her, the one showing all her stats showed her younger face. Next time I logged it, the one on the left was younger. Back and forth. Do I have a problem or is there a safe glitch going on?

Note I do not have any mods or CC (I know. I'm weird).

    It's these:

CasPartCache.package: CAS parts that appear in Create-A-Sim
compositorCache.package: New objects that would appear in Buy/Build mode
    scriptCache.package: Mods or Hacks
    simCompositorCache.package: New Sims, default skins
socialCache.package: Information about the social aspects

    (Copied from: https://sims3.crinrict.com/en/2011/01/faq-delete-your-cache-files.html)

  • The socialCache one is optional, but yes those are the ones. Many of us clear the caches before we startup (or after we quit, same thing) every time. I would never play with stale caches in place. Others not quite so often but as a matter of routine maintenance. The caches exist to speed up the game's access to data so it's good they are structured that way, but they far too easily fill up with outdated junk. Even if they are only 1kb in size each, that means they are pointers to elsewhere where the real caches are which depends on the type of world being played, but they still need to be cleared occasionally.

Other kinds of cache files like the WorldCaches and Thumbnails don't need to be cleared out routinely unless the player is troubleshooting something in particular as those will slow the game down considerably while they rebuild themselves.
  • Probably not a serious problem as @Sindocat says. Are you clearing (deleting) the five top level cache files in the TS3 user game folder in Documents before starting up the game each time?

No and I’ve never heard of doing such a thing.

Household has 3 adults and 2 toddlers, the latter are 3rd generation. So I haven’t played it very long.
