Loud Click Volume

In launcher options, click on the sound icon , you can mute or lower sound effects. You also have the option to lower the sound on your actual computer

Turning off/down "sound effects" has too great an effect. There are too many of them I want to keep. The game is almost silent. Same with turning down the computer volume. The volume is fairly low. It's just the clicks that are massively huge sounding. I wince every time I click. When looking for hidden walls etc, when I am clicking a lot, I mute the computer for a time then un-mute when I'm finished.

There is no individual way to turn down the volume of the clicks only that I have ever heard of. It's lowering all sound effects , muting them or leaving the settings where they are in the launcher and just putting the computer sound lower.

There are sound effect mods that can mute out certain individual effects without disturbing the others (bicycle bells, sims' alarm clocks, Build/Buy music, certain radio stations, ghost music, etc.) TwoFtMama has a slew of them on her Sims Asylum website. I've checked and none of the ones I know about are intended to work on the object-click sounds.

I've never found or heard of the object-click sounds being that obnoxious relative to other sound effects in the game. Guess I have to ask if the OP has an unusual sound card on their system and maybe its drivers are in need of updating?

@igazor yes the clicks can be loud "IF" someone's computer volume is cranked on 100 and or might have headphones on. It can be a loud popping sound. I know I have by accident had my computer volume turned up too high, start the game where the game is too loud overall.

Yes, that seems reasonable but then every sound the game and that sims make would (I think) be too loud at such a setting. Hey, why are my sims breathing so heavily all of a sudden? Ouch, one of them just sneezed and now I've gone deaf. Or the doorbell has rung, and it blasted me out of my chair! (Actually had that happen once with sims blowing reveille on a bugle to raise the flag, was totally not expecting that but happened to have the game camera zoomed in on the Military lot at 5am or maybe it was 6am, whenever they put on the little show for us) ;)

But I was referring to the object-click sound relative to other game sounds.

Under Device Manager/Sound, video and game controllers
- AMD High Definition Audio Device
- Realtek High Definition Audio
(I just used the 'check for updates' button on both, now to restart)
The headphone jack is plugged into an external speaker
- Outdoor Tech Turtle Shell 2.0 Bluetooth Speaker
- the speaker's Bluetooth doesn't seem to work, so it is wired.

Edit:
Reboot with sound driver updates installed. No change in click volume in The Sims 3.

Hmm. How do the clicks sound as compared to other sounds the game makes when not using headphones? Or not using speakers, can you plug the headphones into the computer's output port instead of the speakers? Just trying to rule out some potential external causes here since this issue is not really widely reported.

The clicks are very loud. You do more clicking than anything else in this game. It is a popping sound. Turn your computer up as high as it can go , click away and you will see how annoying it can get. The click sounds have always bothered me. I just keep my computer on low volume and don't use headphones.

I've always noticed the clicks sounding higher than other sounds in the game. It can be annoying... I use external speakers most of the time and turn down the volume when playing Sims 3. Either I'm not as sensitive to it anymore or I've gotten used to playing with lower volume.
