Is there a way to do this? Let me see if I can try to explain:My Sim has formed a relationship with a few NPCs/Townies, but I don't want them to move in with her. I want the 4 of them to form a household - is there a way to do this with NRaas without losing the relationship they have with my Sim?

About the only way, I've heard of is by moving them in temporarily and then moving them all out as a group...after setting up their relationships in NRAAS Master Controller so that they all don't split up...and move off. There's cheat ways of doing it, like sliding up the relationship meter with the mouse so that you're always friends with them but I don't think that's what you were wanting to do.

I made some of the NPCs live in the park using NRaas and it became like a household, but i forgot how exactly i did it and i dont know if the relationships stay the same. I guess you can move them to an actual house after that, too. I am gonna check that save again and try to figure it out then come back to you with a clearer answer, hopefully.ETA: I just checked. click any lot or house you want to add sims to, then master control, add sim. I assume the relationships will stay the same.

Click on the wall of any house you want them to move in, either occupied or empty, then NRaas > Master Controller > Add Sim (first command) > *filter*. As filter you can use "Type of Sim (And)" > Homeless Non Service if you have lots of sims in town. If you use Story Progression, make sure there are enough beds in the house.The relationship levels are accessible in NRaas > Master Controller > Intermediate. You can set them for all sims in the house at once, at least in relation to one sim, if you feel particularly lazy.

I would temporarily move them into the active household as Nikkei_Simmer suggested. The reason for this is once you move them into your active household the game 'views' them as 'played with' and that excludes them from having the ability to leave your town of their own free-will or by game choice. Also, they will not lose their current relationship with your Sim (even if you didn't move them in).However, this can also be accomplished with using NRaas' Story Progression mod, but it seems much simpler to just move them in and then move them out than to have to set-up castes for them to stay in game.

I know you mentioned it, but just so that the OP doesn't miss the tidbit: This statement is only true for sims you have actively played. Any neighbors you love, the girlfriend of your family's son, your love interests etc. can and will be killed or deleted by EA SP at any moment, if you didn't mark those sims as "EA-protected" by actively playing them. It's often a self-escalating process that will leave the town mostly devoid of any life. So, if you have the processor power to spare, NRaas SP is definitely the easier way to achieve that goal.

I have honestly never had that happen. It could be because after I moved them out my Sims still interacted with them and whomever entered their lives after that in some form or another. Or, I could just be lucky, who knows?! There are a lot of things people have said happens with this game which are just not a part of my experience. And, having EA's SP kill or remove any of my 'added' townies (or others) is one of them.

Using edit town, I have spot moved Sims in and out of my active household. The only thing I did was start the game clock between moving them in and then out again, I didn't play with them, not one command. This action seemed to be enough to mark them as 'actively played' by my game.

When it comes to SPs, hands down NRaas' does offer way more than what you get with the game itself. But as you said, the luxury of having those options do come at a processing cost.

I've got NRaas SP installed and don't used the EA one, so should be all good. Thanks everyone, ya'll are legends for all the advice :mrgreen:
