Making Sims 3 look less 'Sims 3'?

i'm getting sick of the Sims 4 lack of occult Sims for me to play, so I'm contemplating that once I have a good PC set up, of giving the Sims 3 a good go. I played for a little while when the game was released as a teen, but as it broke the family computer, I haven't played since.

Is there a mod or way to make the Sims look less realistic, as alpha style sims and Sims 3 aesthetic really, really, REALLY gives me the creeps.

I don't need full sims 4 looks, but just ways to make them look less half human? Even a visual downgrade to Sims 2 would be okay with me! But as they are, I can't stand the way they look. Or even a way to make them look more like they do in Medieval?

Thanks in advance!

Not a mod, just custom content. You can find default or non-default skin and eyes. Along with custom hairstyles and clothing if you'd like.

    - I use Primer skin & Oh my Eyes... Paired together may look too realistic for your taste.
    - I used to use Ultra-Plain Faces : Default + Non-Default & Ultra-Plain Eyes : Default + Tricolor Contacts... They are a nicer shaded/detailed EA version in my opinion.

edit: Random townies wearing the defaults I use. This game looks amazing to me even for a game that came out in 2009 (w/ max settings). I either try to fit the vanilla style or go slightly more realistic with defaults + HQ mod.

Had to share... A sim @Mikezumi shared with me using those same defaults.

  • Brntwaffles frozen lighting mod is good for vibrant skies.
Also checking out Sims 4 to Sims 3 conversions of objects and CAS items might be worth a shot, Around The Sims 3 is good for this kind of thing.
  • In terms of Sims themselves, wundersims does cartoonish and aesthetically pretty eye contacts, I use the Eskin default replacement for skin - it really smoothes sims’ appearance.
