Master Controller and game time settings

I have been looking around and can't find if with the MC mod i can set my game time (or decay motives) so that i have more time per day for my sims to do more things in between managing motives...?

  • @Turjan thanks you  I've learned about it rn and downloaded it. Later i'll have a bit time to play and will see if i like it.
  • "The World Adventures Patch added coding to alter the flow of time, to handle the way the game operates while on vacation."

I knew it! Everytime i play in the vacation worlds i feel i have more time to do stuff and i spend very few time managing motives!

I love how the time flows in those worlds!
@Turjan @igazor do any of you know the exact "tick per sim-minutes" of those worlds?

I'm not sure there really is a difference. But vacation worlds tend to run more efficiently, outside of the tombs at least, than homeworlds because they are more lightly populated, no one has rabbithole career progress unless you arrange for those, there isn't any real progression by default, and there's just less things for sims in the open world to do. The added efficiency may feel a bit like a different passage of time standard.

The default ticks per minute is 37, and that is the default setting in Relativity (meaning no change). We suggest trying 19 as an initial setting at least while getting used to the mod; the settings for each foreign world played will be independent of homeworlds and can be set the same or as you like for each one.

Many of us find that time passes too slowly on 19 and prefer something more like 23 or so, but the differences will be subtle at best.

  • @igazor i have already played a bit with Relativity. I've decided to try first 23 as i read in older threads that it was what you used. I like it but some weird things have been happening: first i couldn't make the other sims in the household the active sim, if i clicked in them it would never change to them, it stayed with the sim i had as active when i loaded the game all the time. I tried a reset everything (MC) but it didn't work. Then i left the game, deleted the cache files again (as i always do before playing) and it worked.
I played a bit and now i can't click in one of my sims, neither in herself while she's active or in her own phone... nothing happens, the menu doesn't show... I've tried again the reset everything and leaving and loading the game but it didn't work... the weirdest thing is that even taking relativity out and resetting everything again it didn't worked... :disappointed:
  • I had to leave the pc now (it's almost 1am here and i'm a bit tired) but tomorrow i'll backup my save file, my library and my mods and i'll make the game generate a new sims 3 file in documents, maybe it'll help...
I have no idea if the game has a way to revert to a previous moment before i started having issues, but the problem is that i save my game everyday at 3am so i may have saved a lot of times after the issues...
  • So, after some morning research i found out that it may be a showtime issue, so not related to relativity.
I found this remark from a "hero" at EA answers:
Yeah, it's a know bug and has most of the time to do with steady gigs where the proprietors don't exist any more.
It was advised to cancel the steady gig talking to the new proprietor. I'll try it later.
I can add relativity again! I'm really happy with how the time flows with this mod
  • So i loaded my game again and the issue wasn't there anymore :open_mouth: it fixed by itself, it seems... my sim hasn't even talked to the proprietor...

I've decided to try relativity at 19. Now days look more like real days. My sims have time to do a bit of everything: socializing, skill building, keeping their routines... and i don't feel in a rush
