mermaids have no tails

I have a playable mermaid and for some reason she and none of the NPC mermaids have visable tails. They move their legs as in the tail animation underwater but sim like a normal sim above the surface of the water. Oddly I don't have this issue with the mermaid my sim met in the university world(I made a dive lot there)

Is anyone else having this issue?(or know of a way to fix it?)

    Is there any way to do this en mass? I don't really want to have my Sim go diving to find every mermaid and change them in CAS so that they have tails.

    I'd rather they just... had tails.

    @MissMargaret0151, it might be best to post over in The AHQ site being that I see that you play TS4 as this thread is about Sims 3 mermaids. So the solution for TS3 mermaids might not be the same solution for Sims 4 mermaids... :)
