Moving older threads to Sims 3

Edit:  Now that we have a Creative Corner subforum, please feel free to link posts currently in General Discussion that should be moved to CC, or Tech for that matter.  Moving long threads also works somewhat better than when this this discussion started.  Thank EA_David for that if you see him around.

Many threads that were nominated for migration to this forum have been stuck in the Sims Franchise subforum since the transition.  This is because moving threads has been difficult to impossible: it times out, it throws an error, it lies and says it succeeded when it clearly did not.  The longer the thread, the less likely the move is to succeed.  Point is, while the situation hasn't been fixed, it's not for lack of trying.

EA community managers can move threads, as can ordinary users with special rank (that orange thing you see next to some usernames).  So I thought it would be useful to have a place where people could ask for threads to be moved to the Sims 3 section.

If you have a thread in mind for moving, please post here.  emorrill and I (and any others who want to pitch in) will keep trying until everything is in the correct forum.

Threads that are hopefully in the process of moving:

none at the moment

  • I'm having some trouble moving this thread over to the Sims 3 section as well...

I don't see any subforums whatsoever, only most liked, newest, oldest etc all under one Sims 3 roof.

DivinylsFan , The Sims Franchise is not a subforum of the Sims 3 subforum, but a subforum of The Sims - so, on the same level as The Sims 3. You are right: sadly, the Sims 3 doesn't have any subforums.

    • Well, I tried, and I didn't get an error, but it the page just spun for 15 minutes before I closed it.  So maybe it will work eventually, or maybe it didn't.  I'll add it to the list and check again later.

    • Update:  I tried again just now, and it spun forever again but did end up moving.

  • Sandraelle  Your thread has been moved by... someone, no idea whether it was me or not.  It just showed up under Sims 3 when I went to check tonight.

The same is true for the "I still love scenery" thread.  So I guess the site is willing to cooperate sometimes.

puzzlezaddictThank you so much for getting my thread moved (or whoever did it, lol), yay!!!

However, I'm still not able to publish any edits in my showcase thread. I just delete a few words and replace it with different words before publishing and it won't publish the edit. This has been going on since day 1.

On another thread, I've been able to successfully post a few words in a reply post, but then whenever I go to edit that post to add more information, it won't publish any of my edits. I've tried hitting cancel to discard changes, then I've deleted the post altogether and started over, and no luck. Am I blocked or something from publishing?

EDIT: Well I was finally able to get the reply post I mentioned above to publish, so disregard the above paragraph. It seems like it's hit and miss? Still not working on my showcase thread though.

Thanks for any help in this situation. 😄

Sandraelle  Try again now.  I've helped a couple other users unstick their threads by "editing" them, e.g. creating and deleting a couple new lines.  Try one edit at a time as well—sometimes the problem is not editing itself but too many changes, or new or edited links, at once.

EA people are looking into the issue in general, so you can flag your thread to them in the Feedback forum, or I'll pass along any relevant info if you prefer.

SolitaryBeing  Your thread has now been moved over, finally.  Again, no idea whether that was me or someone else, but at least it's done.

This is good news! Could you, please, move these threads to the Creative Corner?

  • Yes, thank you EA_David for finally getting us a TS3 Creative Corner... :)

I haven't really been over to the TS3 side of things as I have been playing TS4 doing the Grim Reaper event, so I was quite surprised when I came over to TS3 as I wanted to post some pics of todays game play and saw that we finally have our own CC section. So I took the time to get my threads that I wanted over on the new site moved over to the CC  section...🙂

lisasc360  To clarify, EA_David has been helping with the issues moving threads.  EA_Spectre is the one to thank for the new Creative forum, and the newish Tech forum before, and tags.  They've both done a lot over the past few months.
