My Loading Screen is Stuck at 99%

I tried emptying my caches files, merging files (I still have the backups), deleting files I don't need, my drivers are updated, my graphics settings are set to medium, I don't have the interaction screen on, i deleted everything in my dcbackup folder except for the ccmerged, deleted featureditems, I've repaired origin and restarted my computer. I'm not willing to do a factory reset since I finally got this game to work, but I did do the 50/50 method from when this issue had happened. The best thing was that the loading time was much faster (it went super quick, like I didn't have cc installed), but once I tried playing another family from another neighborhood or whenever I tried to travel back, like say, a university, the loading bar would stay stuck near the end.

I can only play one family at a time, unless I wanted to play for that one neighborhood, otherwise, I get the ongoing loading screen and then I'd have to keep bringing up the Task Manager to "End Task". It didn't do that at first, only 2wks ago. All of my package files are updated as well and I removed my Sims 3 folder and made a new save in-game, which didn't cause any problems, but weirdly enough it would cause an issue where my UI would be empty and unclickable and sometimes I possibly couldn't interact with anything other than, I think, the options menu.

Sometimes the cursor would be stuck as if it's loading and I wouldn't be able to click anything to get out of it. I, too, had to cancel out the game, which stopped for the moment from happening, again.
I have Nraas MC, ErrorTrap, Overwatch, SP, Woohooer, Animations, and Traveller. I tried to Reset Everything, but I guess that doesn't help if it's already happening. I deleted the backup folder for that save, but that didn't help. I got another version of that save prior to them being sent to the university, but the issue still occurred. I have even played my files without cc, which is mostly .package files, and THAT doesn't help either.

I'm on Windows 10 PC and use Hp Pavilion x360 Convertible 15-dq1xxx, if that matters.

  • By any chance when you go to play another neighborhood you, do you just exit to the main menu and then try to load another neighborhood? If so it is recommended NOT to do that. When you finish one save it is always best to exit the game completely to desktop and then relaunch it. @igazor or @puzzlezaddict might know more about then I do, but I believe data from one save can carry over to the new town and cause corruption
  • @GraceyManor That doesn't make sense. I feel like that's just as worse as my issue. Does that even stop corruption from happening unsworth or is that just a continuous thing I have to lookout for? Because, I've used laptops before, like Surface Pro, and I've done the things you've said that isn't good with no problems (pretty much for the longest I've played The Sims), but I guess there's a time for everything ?‍♀️? So, save whatever file I'm on and exit, then relaunch the game?

    Here are my specs:

  • Someone else can explain it better than I can but when you don’t fully exit out of the game after finishing one save, data can transfer over to the other and you’ll get funky things such missing sims, teens living on their own etc.Laptops can run the game but depends on which ones.
  • The issue is that TS3 in particular does not always clear out the contents of RAM when one game session is put away regardless of whether it was saved or not and another is loaded up, which can lead to the data from one game bleeding into another as @GraceyManor describes. It's a design flaw that EA never addressed. The presence of the NRaas Traveler mod makes this more likely to happen, but it has also been known to happen to players who don't even use mods. Best practice is to always quit completely to the desktop, or Origin if relevant, in between loadups no matter how annoying or how long it takes to do that.

I should also point out that your computer is underpowered for TS3. It's a laptop that is designed for portability and it's ability to swivel around into a tablet, not to play graphics intensive games, and it does not have a dedicated graphics card. That doesn't mean you can't play the game on it all, obviously you can as you have been, but the more content and Expansion Packs you throw at it and the longer you play on it, I'm afraid the more likely issues like this are going to arise. :/
  • @igazor
For clarification, I just realized why laptops aren't the most recommended source for gaming, so I've just been trying to find those that have claimed to be good, like Acer Predator Helios 300. Is it true? Since I use cc and mods, and considering I have a lot of packs installed, will this have a higher chance of me not corrupting my files and electronic device? Curious if it's an actual good bang for my buck.
  • As a general rule, laptops take more powerful components to achieve the same or similar results than hardware on desktops. It's not that one can't have a successful gaming experience on laptops, it just often takes higher end components and a decent cooling system to get there. You don't have to go quite as far as a Predator Helios 300, now that's kind of going from one extreme to another, but many low- to mid-range systems are just not going to deliver what the player wants even by TS3's 2009 standards.

But just to be clear, none of this really has anything to do with not retreating from the Main Menu and data getting stuck in RAM in between gaming sessions. That's can and will, for many, happen anyway as it's a program design flaw and not dependent on hardware.
