My trees are dormant in mild temperatures? (Answered)

No, I'm afraid this will happen no matter what the temperatures are. Plant dormancy is tied to the seasons, not just the temperatures. I believe the only way to have outdoor harvests year round is to disable winter and probably autumn as well. You can use Tempest to move the holidays around so you don't end up missing any if you want. Not actually move them, I mean insert extra Spooky and Snowflake Days into spring or summer.

In my game dormancy seems tied to season. I use NRaas Tempest to ensure no temps below freezing in Fall and Spring, but all my outside trees go dormant the 3rd or 4th day of Fall. I use a 10 day season. I think moving them inside is your only option if you don't want to wait until Spring.

IIRC, NRaas Overwatch will correct for plants stuck in a particular growth stage, but doesn't do anything (in my experience) for dormant plants. NRaas DebugEnable can force a plant into the next growth stage, but I don't know if it does anything for dormant plants.

Anyways, I don't think there's anything to be fixed. I think that's just how the game is. Trees, and eventually all my outside plants, always go dormant in the Fall, and don't start growing again until the 3rd or 4th day of Spring (again, I use a 10 day season). I pretty much always use a greenhouse as a result.

I don't know of a mod that restrict plant dormancy to just winter, or just to temps below freezing.

I suppose what I could do is have it still set as summer in my game (and just pretend it is autumn) until the harvest is in and I am ready for the trees to shed their leaves. Trees in real life usually don't change colour until after the equinox anyway. I think I feel okay about that.

I think this is something much more complicated than tuning can change. I usually restrict my more tropical worlds to two long seasons, for example, although it takes some trial and error to get the sets of effects one wants without losing too many other things (like again, the holidays) along the way.

Thank you @TreyNutz too! I am on day 11 or of a 21 day season so those numbers seem about in line with mine. Yeah, I haven't been able to find anything in DE for dormant plants either. Never mind.

That's okay; I'm not fussed about the holidays @igazor . I've created thirteen of my own anyway - just for my sims to celebrate, not by modding the game or anything. They're very much centered around the agricultural year, which is why the dormant trees were such a nasty surprise, but if I lengthen my summer I can move some of the autumn ones there. I'll just have to do some maths (boo) to work out what days they should fall on, and also change my Tempest settings.

Plant dormancy is one of the buggiest things about gardening IMO. Sometimes I even have issues with dormant plants inside. And sometimes plants never become un-dormant. Thank goodness for being able to use debugger to fix such things!

I have managed to get around the problem by having big basement gardens. They are dormant for the first few hours after planting a seed. After than they carry on as if it were summer all year round even if there are blizzards outside.

Problem with basement gardens is the sprinklers don't work - but he Swift Gro Gardening stations, tractors and green dragons do work. And Sims can tend the gardens by hand if they aren't too big.

Alternatively you could have indoor gardens above ground.

Thanks @Karritz . Indoor gardens just aren't an option for me because of the way my world is set up.

But adding the extra week to summer and taking the 'harvest' in then is working fine. Trees don't usually properly change colour until the end of Sept here in the UK anyway, so perhaps it's even more realistic like that :)
