Needing Help w/Laptop Compatibility

Hello all,
I know this issues has likely come up 100x's already and I have searched the forums but I'm being very cautious!

In the fall I bought a brand new desktop (an Acer i5 w/12gb) to replace my old one that while within the correct specs for The Sims 3 it lagged a lot. My new computer is well above the specs, it's only issue is the graphics card isn't bad but not great either. And I had a lot of issues installing the game, it did not want to install at all, it took me down many Sims 3 fix-it rabbit holes and a couple weeks before I got the game up and running!

I am planning on buying a gaming laptop within the next few months (the only games I even play are (Sims 3/4) and I don't want to run into the same issues I've had with the new desktop. In one of those rabbit holes there as something about Sims 3 being made to work on older platforms/tech, not newer ones? It was fairly confusing tbh. And most of those posts were a couple years old...
My question is, does anyone have a newer model laptop that Sims 3 will work on? And what is the absolute best laptop to play my game on - I don't want to go super crazy price wise, I'm looking for something below the $1,500 or even $2,000 mark.
Thank you in advance for any help given!
  • For that budget, you can pretty much get whatever you want, at least as far as Sims games go. But you don't need to spend nearly that much. I didn't do a thorough search, but this laptop, $1,200 plus an additional $100 rebate, is overkill for both games. It has a much stronger processor and a faster graphics card than you'd need, 16 GB RAM, and a 512 GB solid state drive.

This one is still good enough for both games, although I personally would upgrade the 8 GB RAM. (It has the same graphics card and hard drive, and its processor, although weaker, is still more than strong enough.) It looks like there's a significant discount too.

If these are not exactly what you want, let me know which details matter to you, and I can try to find something suitable. And let me know your country if you're not in the U.S.—I know a few other countries use dollars too.
  • It's taken me forever to get back you, sorry about that!
I ended up finding an Acer Nitro 5 that is almost identical to the 2nd newegg.com option you showed me, the keyboard even has the same back lit red!
My game has ran so, so much smoother - better than my desktop, so that will be my next tech upgrade I think, lol.
Thank you again for your help!!
  • Thank you! Both of these look great actually and
I do live in the US, but I've never looked on the Newegg website before, I've mainly been looking at Best Buy, Amazon, Dell, and Costco - and most of the computers on those sites needed a substantial budget! Thank you so much for searching these out!
  • You mentioned Dell, and I happened to look for someone else today, so I'll leave these two links here. Their hardware is equivalent to the first and second MSI laptops I linked before.
