Nraas mods

I'm having a look at Nraas mods right now. I already use overwatch and errortrap.

I know in the past i used a mod that allowed to build the university buildings in my sim's town... but i can't find it and i don't remember it's name... do you know which mod is this?

And what other nrass mods would you suggest?
  • The university one - http://simsl3gacies.com/downloads/

And I think these go with it - https://www.nraas.net/community/Careers

Here is a pretty good list of mods that a lot of people use - https://pleasantsims.com/sims-3-mods-list/
  • That is correct, the Careers mod is required for a homeworld university. Perhaps this FAQ will help?

The full list of NRaas mods that are specifically designed to enhance game performance would include Overwatch, ErrorTrap, Register, Traffic, Traveler (if any form of world travel is to be used), to an extent GoHere, and MasterController for its Reset Everything command to be run on the Town menu of City Hall every few sim weeks or so.

The other mods all extend gameplay or player control in various ways. They are all highly regarded and recommended. I use all but a very small number of them myself (frankly, Dresser scares me but that's just me). :)
  • A MasterController Reset rebuilds the sim, object, or lot from the ground up based on information the game has on them at the time. Reset Everything works on the entire town. It is certainly intrusive to gameplay and I only run one (when it's needed) in the middle of the sim night so as not to disturb anything other than my sims' sleep or whatever they may be up to at that hour. It manages to catch and correct garbage data and signs of corruption that the other mods like ErrorTrap may not have been able to find yet. It does not in any way disrupt the progression or status of our sims. It will tend to restart their dream managers, so you may get beginning of the game types of wishes for a short while afterwards, but for most of us that's a pretty minor thing to have to put up with.

StoryProgression is the NRaas mod known for adding overhead to the game rather than making it run more efficiently. But given how poorly EA's built-in story progression works for so many players, and its lack of customizable controls, we see that as a trade-off against the benefits it and the other mods provide. Your system is perfectly capable of running NRaas SP, but if you have a way overpopulated and way overly complicated world on any system then SP could without some adjustments be a nightmare to manage and keep running smoothly. That's not usually the expected outcome, of course. All of the mods are relatively easy to remove if they just don't work out. :)
  • Thank you @KatyFernlily and @igazor
Only a couple of more questions: What does the MasterController's Reset Everything resets?
And will the Story Progression be too much for my laptop (lenovo legion 5, amd ryzen 7 4700h, 16gb ram, nvidia geforce gtx 1650ti, 500gb ssd)?
  • thank you so much @igazor

I think i'll go for both master controller and story progression but one at a time so that i have time to learn how to manage the settings to my liking :)
