Oasis Landing Question

I have a new computer so I (may) have gone overboard loading in content I had not used before. With Seasons, Supernatural and Into the Future all in my game at once for the first time I'm a bit overwhelmed! I'm having a lot of fun visiting the future and bought a house in the normal Oasis Landing but haven't found an answer to this question: If my sim goes to either of the other versions (Utopian or Dystopian) will she retain her owned home to return to? Or has she changed something so she loses it? I put in a fair amount of time customizing her house and would be a bit heartbroken if it isn't hers anymore. Also will her son inherit it from her? Thanks for any help you can give me!
  • Hi SimLibby! What I was trying to say was that I am nearly computer illiterate. Obviously that includes my typing skills as I managed to mess that up ;) I really need to proof read before I hit "post comment"!
  • I don't have Oasis Landing so I don't know the answer to your questions.

But if you make a back-up of your game, you could try it to find out. Just don't save. And when you do save, save under a different game so your original save stays intact. Or restore your back-up when needed. The house you could save in the bin and even export/share to the Launcher. Only from the Launcher you don't upload to the Exchange but open the folder Export where the house has an .sims3pack after sharing. You could back-up exports as well. In case you reinstall the game, you can reinstall those exports in the Launcher so the house will be in your game again.

If you play with just the mom and son, if that's your household, I think you will keep the house when the mom passes because the game isn't over. You still have one member left from the household so I assume the son can stay in the house. If not, you can manipulate it and place the son in the house during EIG.

    Hope this helps.

    EDIT: make back-ups anyways.

EDIT II: When you travel to the other versions, just don't do elaborate things when you travel there just to test if she retains her home. That seems important to you so just in case it turns out she can't retain her house, you don't have extensive gameplay in a game that you won't keep because if you do she loses the house (I hope you follow my logic here).
  • Thank you for the information! I'll try to do what you suggested. I am a long time simmer starting with Simtown but nearly compute illiterate outside just playing the games :)
  • You're welcome. What exactly do you mean when you describe yourself as "nearly compute illiterate"? I understand the separate words but have a little trouble processing them together in context (I'm not native English). Does that mean you can't read good or are dyslexic or something? Or do I have to take you being "nearly compute illiterate" with a grin of salt: perhaps it's an exaggeration of something you consider a flaw within yourself since your messages are without grammar mistakes and my response seems clear to you. If you have any additional questions based on my response, don't hesitate to ask me.

I hope you figure it out and assuming you do, could you please share the answers to your questions here? Thank you. B)
