placing roofs on top of a half open structure/building

Can anyone explain to me if there is a way to place a roof over a structure that has full walls across the back of the structure but half walls at the side as I spent hours yesterday trying to make like a canopy top with a roof that would stretch halfway over the structure itself.. think beach bar type style. I know I can place columns around and they will create a place where flat roof tiles can be added but I simply do not have the space to dot these all around the structure without it looking out of place so I am wondering as a player that hardly ever builds anything (because I am rubbish at it-) if there may be some sort of cheat or way around this...

Place the columns. Make the roof you want. Then delete the columns.

Thank you, I feel so embarrassed now not thinking of that and dare not state the amount of time I spent trying to fix it yesterday :)
  • Just remember the laws of physics cease to exist in Sims and you can delete what you want and the building will still be sound. But you do need colums or walls to hold up the next floor at first.

Placed colum for 5 minutes deleted after...

I built a huge roller coaster once, then removed all of the supports. It still worked beautifully but looked so strange with it just floating in the sky that I added a few back in just to make it look a little safer.

It was this one - it's on the Exchange.

There are 2 roller coaster tracks above ground and another scary and dark one under ground in this lot.

you know I will have used this roller coaster and not even noticed the supposed supports were missing :)

I put columns in it to give the illusion it has supports but I doubt it could be built like that. I only added them where I thought the looked like they should be.

Thank you I am not a builder at all in any way shape or form and rely on our wonderful creator community for their builds but decided I liked a lot in game enough to try and fix it in a way I wanted it and ended up ruining the roof lol but I will remember in future If I am trying to maybe build a whole lot what you just said :)
