Probably a silly question, but what is poi?
It's fire spinning. Typically used in combination with Hawaiian dance or belly dance. I think it's great!! I'd LOVE to have some fire dancers in TS3!!

Since they came out with the tropical set some time ago I have wanted Hawaiian and Tahitian dance as well. I work in a Polynesian place where they do all of those dances. I love my culture. We tell our history like dancing sign language. In Hawaii they were taken over by the ho'ale (white folk) and were told not to speak their native language. So the polys used a form of sign language and dance to hide their telling of history and stories and communication with each other.
As for the poi balls, they are native of New Zealand and the Moari culture. Moari are known warriors.
The Polynesian culture is beautiful. I wish they would have the hula, poi balls and fire knife in the Sims 3.
