Problems in IP

Why is it that when my sim goes to the seasonal festival in IP, there is never anyone there, other than the food vendors? In most worlds, there are always several other sims there. So it's no problem to get someone to have a water balloon fight or soccer shootout with. But in IP, if my sim stays at the festival all day, if she's lucky, one or two service sims will show up, and maybe stay long enough for a soccer shootout, but not for a chat afterward. It can't be that there are too many other places for them to go, because in the custom worlds I made, there are far more community lots than in IP, yet there are still always plenty of sims at the festival.

Also, in my current game, I have one resort open, but there are no workers of any kind there. I even saved, bulldozed, and replaced the resort, but there are still no workers there. So my sim can't check in, and won't be able to use the facilities there. And of course, there's no one else there either. I use NRaas Register, and for most of my saves I have all of the resort worker pools set to 0, but for this one I changed the settings all back to default when I set up my game there. So that shouldn't be preventing them from working at the resort. One of the service sims my sim did a soccer shootout against was a resort worker. He left as soon as she won the shootout and tried to talk to him, and I thought he was going to work, but nope. He didn't.

  • Well, that didn't work either. The resort worker still doesn't show up. I guess I'll just close those resorts. After all, there is now a resort that does have workers present, and my sim is making a profit from it. That's a bonus. Plus, she can check in for free - bigger bonus!
  • Hey random question: How do you open resorts that you don't own? I'm in IP and the two big fancy resorts aren't open. Everything is greyed out and you can't do anything because there is never anyone on staff at the front desk.

    I remember back when IP first came out I was able to send one of my sims to stay at them. But now I can't. I feel like I'm missing something really obvious.

    You can choose real estate/travel service on your phone then resorts

    Can try going in Edit Town mode and getting rid of old desk placing a new one should fix it.

    I have had problems with resort workers before and good to read you have some sort of resort situation going on albeit one you perhaps did not initially want-) Also to be honest I never even thought about staff not ageing up properly and creating problems either-) I have found in my game as long as I only have one resort in the whole map I don't get as many problems..

    @igazor

    you mentioned NRaas Tagger and that's one i have not used before so i wondered using this mod when I get those unroutable sim messages would I be able to go see where they are stuck?
  • @KATENESS To open an existing resort in IP, you have to be in build or buy mode. You can either do it in Edit Town, or just enable testing cheats and shift click on the lot and choose "build (or buy) on this lot." Then ctrl+shift+click on the resort desk and choose Resort Management. You then have all the same options as you have in live mode with a resort your sim owns.

    @SPARKY1922 Yeah, it didn't cost my sim anything to take over Hobart's, and just removing all the brambles and buckhorn gave her money to make a few improvements. By then she had also finally opened that level 10 treasure chest in Pearl's Deep, so she had enough money of her own to buy one blueprint room, so I got the party room with the food stand and firewalk pit. She made $342 on the first morning and then sold the large plutonium ingot and large cut rainbow gem she got in the treasure chest at the consignment shop for over $20,000, so I did a few more upgrades, including upgrading the tower, and the next morning she got $542. So it's paying for itself, and when she moves away from IP, she'll get a good chunk of money from selling it. So it was a good financial move.
  • @SPARKY1922 - If you get an unroutable or stuck sim warning with a sim's thumbnail on it, you should be able to right-click on on their thumbnail to go to where they are. Or use MC >Focus (from City Hall or an in game computer) on them since you would know their name by the warning. If the sim has already been reset, then you may not be able to focus the game camera on them right away and doing so would no longer lead to wherever the problem really was.
  • @IreneSwift

    Well done I think I need you as my financial advisor or at least for my sims :)

    Thank you Igazor

    I will try that because I get many unroutable sim messages in IP mainly despite taking lots of steps to make the world more playable and would like to find where they are getting stuck as it occurs but as you say if they have been reset I am not going to find anything :)
  • As it turned out, she was able to get the resort to five star, by adding just a few items each day, based on what visitors complained about in their reviews. At the end of the process, I needed to add a wedding pavilion to get it to five stars, which I thought was not going to be affordable. But I checked the blueprints, and found it would cost less than $5000. So I extended boardwalk from the original VIP bungalow and made a platform for the wedding blueprint. At the same time, I added a third VIP bungalow between the wedding pavilion on the original VIP bungalow, but reached the point where she was down to only $34 in cash and couldn't finish decorating it. So I waited until she got her profits in the morning and finished it. Now she's getting $3762 every day in profits, a nice income that allows her to pursue her skill building without worrying about how she's going to pay her bills.

    Building resorts is fun. Maybe when she gets to the elder stage, I'll move her back to IP, or maybe to ST, and have her build one from the ground up. I did that before with another sim, using the Spanish blueprints. I should try making one from the ground up with the beach blueprints.
