Question

A while back I made a bar. Upstairs I made living quarters for my sim that owned this bar. Only problem is, when it was closing time , my sim had to leave. The game wouldn't allow him to live there because it was a commercial lot. Is there any way around this? Can you some way have the sim live in his or her place of business?
  • Only by using a mod. NRaas MasterController has a setting that allows its Add Sim command to be used on community lots. Your sim ends up "owning" the lot. One downside is that they will never have a mailbox this way, yet are still required to pay bills somehow.

Note that if the lot is a venue that has a closing hour, they will still be shoved outside at that time after which they will be allowed back in. It's better in many cases to choose a lot type for the venue that has no closing hour.

What many players find works out better for them is to make the sim's home lot an empty 10x10 residential, so they get a mailbox that way, but have them spend all of their time on the community lot. Visitors will come to the 10x10 and the sim will reset there, but if it's really close to the community lot (if possible), then it may not look much different.
  • I meant lot type, as viewed on the pull-down menu in Edit Town. A Park or Hangout, for example, I believe would be open 24/7. Arcades and Java Huts have closing hours. The trade-off is that each lot type will tend to favor pulling in sims who have different sets of traits from each other.
  • cases to choose a lot type for the venue that has no closing hour. like the 24 hour diner?
  • Sorry, that last post...I think something is getting "lost it translation" there. Is it a statement or a follow-up question?
  • I was asking if it would work in the diner that never closes......you said a venue that has no closing hour.
