Roommate situation...

I wanted a sim in my household who was autonomous and I didn't control. Found out you could have roommates, so I became best friends with my sim's future boyfriend/baby daddy and asked him to be my roommate. He accepted, and things were great. Until day 2...

Pretty much all of his time is sat eating waffles. He's obsessed! He doesn't leave the house, he just eats plate after plate. When they're gone? He makes more. Now, I know this isn't entirely a glitch since he (rarely) does other things like dance or read, but he never leaves to go to work, he has a toddler daughter he hasn't gone to care for...

Hopefully this fixes itself. Either he's really hungry, really lazy, or he's stuck on my lot.

UPDATE: I had to let him go... found out he quit his job just to live with me. His daughter was in the hands of other sims, he was trapped and eating far too many waffles. Let's just say roommates probably aren't a great idea.
  • I usually have EAs sims as roomates. The benefit is majority you will find have a job. They are picked from the homeless sim roster and you can research that on wiki of any EA town Store/exp.If being choosy you choose roomate service on your phone choose gender preference and number of roomies.Choose a high number so you can play judge and pick a fave

Example Isla Paradiso I want a pretty girl roomie and did my research.know em all anyway :smirk: But these 4 are hottie sims

    Ariel Walsh
    Inez Montero
    Tammie Opali
    Yesenia Almira

All are gorgeous premades all homeless and choosing Female/Max number of roomates high chance majority or several above will be in the group that shows up.High chance they will have a job since EA homeless premades are given roles. They will all arrive at 9AM the next day at your house and can be fun eliminating ones you do not want by choosing "Dismiss" till you have who you want.

There are X number of female homeless in IP so you just play the odds and if one you had your eye on by chance was not in that group of six dismiss all try again next day.Never have issues with my EA roomies eating pancakes all day

  • My sims have had roommates all over the map as to how well they act under their own autonomy. Never saw the waffles thing, but on one extreme my sim had one in Uni World who did absolutely nothing except stand (in the way) in the kitchen taking his own selfie pics until or beyond when all his needs were in the red. On the other, one did hold onto his job, became very good friends with the family, and would drive the kids anywhere they wanted to go if I left a family car out for them to use. The only thing that one did "wrong" was adopt a cat and then ignored it and left it behind for my family to take care of.

Another way to approach this if you are still using NRaas mods is to set a regular household member to Not Selectable using MC (MC Cheats module required). You can always change that back if you need to take control of them.

  • I tested with 5 roommates and they all went to their rabbithole jobs every day. They mostly stayed at home but once or twice went off to a community lot after work. To get them all home use the call everyone home option on the cell phone. To get them to go to a community lot have an active sim "go with".
