Screen Recording?

I want to record my screen playing Sims 3,but every program I download,I start recording and then the playback is just a black screen,it's like when you try and print screen the game.

I want to screen record, because it will pick up the sound from my microphone and the game, not like the video recording in the game that only picks up game play sounds...
  • What are the pros and cons of then Debut software. I'm a little wary of it as it seems to good to be true. It seems nice enough... :D
  • I just download Fraps the other day, I didn't like it. It's to confusing. I hope I find one of those two you guys links here, so I can try using it. :) Glad to find this in RANDOM. :) Happy simmings.
  • Plz also keep posting because I need a FREEEEEEEE Screen Recoder! And I need It BADLY! And So Do Other Ppl SO Keep Posting! :!: :D
  • I use the paid version of Bandicam and have no issues. For a while it seemed like it didn't record in high quality but once I play around with the video settings it records very very nicely! So, maybe before you write some of these off, play around with the video settings, google how to record high quality with whatever software you're using.

    Onto a free option!
I use OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) to livestream and it has a regular recording mode that records the game and a mic. I haven't used the recording mode but I livestream a lot and it's decent quality.

This was streamed last night using OBS-

I can jump in game and record with the local recording mode and upload it if anyone wants to see the quality.
  • I'm having this issue too. I have tried EZVid, Bandicam, and Screencast-O-Matic but they are all black. Next I tried Debut, but it was incompatible with my Mac. :( I don't like using pirated software, so I try my best to avoid it.

I know somebody said to go into the window mode, but whenever I use the cheat fullscreen off, my screen starts flashing and tells me to press a button in 10 seconds to change modes. I press it and my screen keeps on flashing like a strobe light.

Just like the author, I am currently an unemployed teen who wants to record Sims Gameplay. I'll post if I find anything, but for now it's a mystery. :?:

  • FRAPS is the one I would use for a Let's Play, personally.
For those recorders that produce black screens, you could put the game in windowed mode (go into the graphics options) and record the window.
I know that Macs come with Quicktime, which actually allows you to record video very easily. (open it up, I believe it is in File > New Screen Recording or something along those lines)

Finally, for your microphone, you can run Audacity (a free open-source audio recording/editing program) while you record and then just add the recording as audio afterwards in a video editor. That way if you want, you can also mix in tunes underneath.

    Best of luck. :)
