Showtime Careers Help (Resolved)/How do you play

So, I've jumped back into playing the sims 3 after losing interest in the sims 4. (I got a free game booster and my game is running like a dream after 3 months of playing) I've been playing with Pleasent Sims' Pleasantview save/world file and have things set up for my play style. But I noticed, with NRAAS mods help, that my game is still placing townies into Showtime careers. I disabled the careers and skill progression, but there are still sims in those careers and I want to set them up in different ones. Is there a mod or way for me to see who is in what career? (Example: the singer career has 8 sims assigned to it, but Idk who those sims are unless my played sim knows them. I want to reassign each sim or multiple to a new career and turn that 8 to 0 if possible) I have NRAAS mods for Career, Master Controller, SP, Register, and their respective add-ons.

Thank you and what going on in your game?

How do you play? I'm curious to see how other players play and spice up their games.
  • Well, there's the real Showtime on stage careers and then the street performers. If the sims you are seeing in these slots are homeless NPCs, I would say that they are meant to be street performers. Even with NRaas StoryProgression denying sims both these careers and skills, the game itself will still shove other homeless sims into these slots only more slowly. It's not SP doing that and the mod can't really prevent the game code from doing so, it just tends to let them stagnate that way. I usually see around 2 or 3 in each one -- singer, acrobat, magician. Any more than that and I will either get rid of the sims (MC's Totally Annihilate) if I have no idea who they are or I might try to find something else for them to do, such as give them a cash register or bar to run by way of the Register mod.

For me it depends on the world. I don't want huge rosters of homeless street performers in Uni World (maybe a few would be okay) nor in what would otherwise be a sparsely populated farming or rural community. But for more densely populated areas I can tolerate a few more of these, not that I usually see them on screen actually doing much.

MasterController run from City Hall or an in-game computer will give you lists of sims filtered by career and you can use its Demographics Reports to get top level and more detailed information about what all of the employed sims in your town are doing.
  • MC commands run on City Hall/computers should default to all living (human, as opposed to animal) sims in town if you hit "X" to dismiss the filter options that always show up. As for which Demographic report to use, there are four of them that are career related so it becomes a matter of trying each one until you get the results that have enough information to be useful.

Alternatively, or in addition, you can always run some harmless other MC command like Sim > Basic > Family Tree on City Hall and instead of "X" to dismiss the filter, choose a career related one. You don't really need to run 50 or 100+ Family Trees, once you get the list of sims that fit the filter requirements you would be done and can "X" out.
  • @igazor do you happen to remember the way to get to that list? Sometimes, like when I edit sims in case thru MC Townhall, not all of the sims show up and only my active families and a few NPCs pop up.

    Thank you again
  • @igazor Thank you so much! I'll try it and see what I get. I wish there was a mod to disable that code execution. I'll probably just have to check it periodically to push sims into new roles
