Sim can’t fish anywhere but graveyard in Bridgeport?

So, whenever I click on the ocean or a park pond, I just get the red like.. no smoking sign haha for lack of a better term. The only place my sim can successfully get the option to fish is the graveyard, and I get a message that I’m too inexperienced to fish there.. any answers to this issue?? I’m playing in Bridgeport.

  • I think Bridgeport is in TS3. This is the TS4 forum.

If you can't fish in Bridgeport, then try fishing somewhere else, such as Sunset Valley, to build up your skill.

  • @526chick  Are you playing the 64-bit Mac version of Sims 3?  If so, that's the issue, or at least most of it: all open-water options, including fishing, are unavailable unless you can click the water through another object (like a boat).  This is a known bug with the 64-bit version.  Ponds should be fine though as long as they're actual ponds.  If you can't fish there, please post a screenshot of what you're seeing and list the lot(s) affected.

The message about being too inexperienced to fish at the graveyard is normal because even in daytime, you can only catch red herring (level 3) and vampire fish (level 8).  Without the proper bait, sims are incapable of catching fish below their skill level, although they'll still build skill while trying.

@Sketch793  Just fyi, sims can't travel between homeworlds in Sims 3 without a mod.  So a sim living in Bridgeport could travel to vacation worlds or University but not Sunset Valley.

Oops, forgot about that. I haven't played TS3 very much in the last 9 to 10 years. When I do play, it's mostly at Sim State University.
