Sim "caught" her lover cheating, but he wasn't even doing anything??

My Sim got involved with a married guy (her choice, not mine lol, I just went along with her wishes to romance him) who has frequent parties. She showed up to a party at his place and before she even stepped foot in the house, she got an "Upset" interaction that wouldn't cancel and a "Betrayed" moodlet. The man was just standing by the front door (inside the house), talking to another party guest who he wasn't even being flirty with.
Their relationship plummeted, and after the Betrayed moodlet subsided, my Sim autonomously went across town to confront him and broke off their romantic relationship.
I don't really mind the development because I like spontaneity in my gameplay, but what gives?? She already knew he was married, and didn't even catch the guy being romantic with anyone else. I'm so confused (and kind of amused lol) as to how this happened.

    It's probably because your sim showed up to a party at the house where he lives with his wife. You get romantic reputations when you have Generations installed...where if someone sees(whether one of the sims in the romantic relationships or knows the sims involved) them in public it acknowledges it formally. I think before that it's really just background.

    That's really odd. She's been to his house before for other parties without issues. The reputation system is really complex and interesting, I suppose someone must've just told her he's "been seen with another woman" around town or something. Which again, I don't see why my Sim was upset considering she already knew he was married lol
