- I am so much better at making women. Plus there's usually more options for them too. But yeah, I'm biased.
- mw1525Seasoned NewcomerI also would have answered 'Both', if it had been an option.
I tend to create Sims based on what I need for my game to fulfill a certain overall 'vibe' of the world I am playing or for a role I am filling. For example, if I feel the 'Leader of the Free World' for a specific town/world would flow better (story-wise) with a female at the helm, then I create a female Sim to fulfill the role. Should I need a male to hold a specific position, I create a male.
Since all of my Sim are developed 'equally', gender is nothing more than a visual 'aesthetic' for me. When it comes to actually 'creating' my Sims, because I create with purpose in mind, I haven't noticed a preference towards either gender. - CororonRising TravelerMale sims. My game is pretty matriarchal, but most females are born in game so I have created more males than females through the years. Sometimes I create new couples and let them have both male and female children (often random) to increase the population for the future.
I play my selfsim's family (her children, grandchildren...) and I prefer their spouses to come from other families that have lived in my game for a couple of generations so they will have gene mixes that I'm not totally responsible for. And it's fun if someone else's selfsim is included in the gene pool. - IreneSwiftSeasoned NewcomerI make more female sims because I'm female. If I start with a single sim, it will always be female, and I pretty much only make males when I want to start with my sim already married, or if I want my single sim to get married and there are no decent still-single males in the world by then.
- UlanDhorSeasoned RookieI voted "male" sims, as most of the starter sims I actually made from scratch are male. That said, I hardly ever make any sims from scratch, but I usually edit sims the world comes with, which results in me editing about equal amounts of both.
Males have the advantage that they don't have that much stuff available, which means the tabs load much more quickly. Of course, that also means they will always wear (almost) the same stuff  .
Females have such a lot of "outfits" available that I can get away with pretty much only using that tab. That's one less tab to load, which is also nice. Now you know the secret why most of the females in my shots wear full dresses: pure laziness  .
Did I mention that the make-up or accessory categories pretty much don't exist for me?
Yeah, I'm hopeless  . - I like making and playing as either, but I've noticed the female seems are easier to make look nice and even have more clothes. I also see more differences in how my females look compared to males, who sometimes look the same. But yeah, I prefer making females but play as either.
- ThriorTheSecondSeasoned NewcomerIt’s pretty much a staple that I always start a Sims game with 1 male sim. My favorites too tend to be males. I guess it's because of my overall playstyle. In various RPG games I almost always prefer to play as males because for some reason I just roleplay them better. I guess I more efficiently "distance" them from myself so that I'm then able to create actually exciting, well-developed characters who I easily feel immersed with. Female characters tend more easily gain "self-insert" qualities which then kind of make their characterization be all over the place or just less interesting.
I semi-roleplay in the Sims series as well and, again, it just seems to come more naturally with male characters. Sure, females might be fun to dress up with them always having way more options (unless you rely on CC... but there's also way more CC for females) but they don't inspire story/roleplay wise nearly as much. - Some of us genuinely have no preference. I just make whichever one fits the idea I have for whichever family I'm making at the time.
To answer your question, probably a more reliable metric is the exchange. At present, there are 290K makes, and 945K females. - AstroX1424Seasoned Newcomer

Speaking only for myself, I enjoy making male characters in all video games, sims included. Needless to say I am well aware that I must be in the minority here because (1) I don't customise my female sims to the same extent I do with male sims and (2) I am not good at making female sims myself, to begin with.
In additional to that, I think - this is my own opinion - female sims already have quite a large amount of high quality custom content as well as official EA content made for them (don't get me wrong, the more content, the merrier!) compared to the little effort poured into stuff male sims receive so I guess I felt kind of sorry for the men and ended up spending a disproportionately excessive amount of effort trying to compensate them by making them look "decent" in my game.
If this makes any sense at all :joy: I like the sims, particularly CAS. I do like playing as both but I find it more fun making male, that's all. :D
Same here.
What I do when I don’t have an idea for a sim to create (make or female) is use stock images for inspiration. - SprottenhamSeasoned VanguardI don't know, I probably have a slight preference towards making females, and I certainly enjoy playing the females more in game, but whenever I make a new sim, I always make one of the opposite gender because I want my towns to be balanced.
