Sims 3 is still better than Sims 4?

And my biggest gripe is how limited it is and lack of open world or world at all (that map is not a world!) So you're in good company. But expect most of the posts on this site to be of positive nature - it is afterall the sims forum.

I used to think the Sims 4 was better but then the more I played the game, the more gaps I found the game had. So as much as I didn't like the Sims 3 at first, it's base game was built so much stronger than the Sims 4. Plus it had toddlers and more family play activities, so of course I'll prefer it. Egypt and France I really love too so that being the first EP was impressive. Those worlds were massive and so detailed.

Sims 3 is my favorite out of the series, so I personally think it's much better than Sims 4.

Matter of opinion, of course. Sims 4 isn't going to get much better, not with the baked-in limitations. My opinion (I have to say that, as some get all plum-hurt if you don't say 'my opinion).

I enjoy TS3 more. It holds my attention for much longer. Hours and hours longer.

I agree with PP. I don't think they can make TS4 better for me because I don't think they can change the world design. That's where the game loses me. I could probably survive without toddlers albeit begrudgingly. I cannot tolerate a closed microscopic world.

You are wrong - Sims 2 people went nuts over the game right on the first day they came out. Did you not see the millions of sells they had the first week that got them the best selling game of all time rating? People went nuts with the Sims 2 base game. It is the base game that sell the game. If people do not like the base game then they are less likely to buy into coming attractions. People during Sims 2 did not even care when the first ep came out because the base game alone was tons of fun. I was there, so I know how it was. People raved all the time how great Sims 2 was up until Securom got added to the disks and EA decided to change from the cd format to the DVD format with H & M Stuff and the BV ep with no warning. People were scrambling because CD players would not play their new games. That was the first time Sims 2 had lots of angry people on a large scale. So believe me 2006 was not a good time in Sims 2.

Oh, oops, I forgot to comment on the actual theme of the thread. Yes, I agree, Sims 3 was/is a much better product than Sims 4. My opinion, of course (*nods to @Darleymikey ;)).

Yeah. I'd say Sims 2 really made developers take a hard look at what could be profitable.

Well I am responsible for most of them - as I loved the Sims 1 - so I went around and bought everyone the game for their birthday. It sort of became birthday or Christmas tradition to get Sims games from me. I have a lot of family - 3 natural kids, 5 foster kids that all grew up and have families - and i started the youngest girl this year on Sims 4. That is not even counting all the kids who have gotten their friends to playing the Sims game. Back in Sims 1 there was just 5 of us playing, by Sims 2 base game we had 7 - but by Sims 2 OFB we had grown to 15 players - then by Sims 3 we had 21players. Sims 3 Pet brought in 3 more that had been watching their mom play. By the end of Sims 3 we had 28 players. My youngest Son got married last May and his new wife and step daughter were right interested - so we set his wife up with Sims 3 - came Christmas I bought Sims 4 for his step daughter Jasmine. His wife's sister saw Sims 3 and she wanted it - so we added her to make 31 simmers total.

Gaming is like a common bond to my family as many members are into computing - we have several Techs in the family including my husband, programmers, graphic artist - you name it. Very tech oriented family. LOL.

Funny loading up my Sims 1 base game and noticing four things even that game had that the Sims 4 doesn't:


Terrain tool, water tool, diving boards, and hot tubs. <3 Come on step it up Sims 4. It's pretty bad when even a 15 year old game can do things better. ;)
