I was also going crazy before I got the punishment mod that allows me to control whether a teen/child gets scolded/grounded. The coding is definitely messed up with that because when a teen or kid is grounded, they can't even go to school! It annoyed me to no end, especially when the sim had to stay home because they were grounded and then the parent yells at them again for skipping school. I'm just like "You're the one who told them they couldn't go to school!" Yes, I literally yelled at my computer screen, lol. The mod definitely helps a lot because now if my sims aren't doing too well in school, I might just have a parent scold them.
