Sims decide to not route as they have

Ok so this is the story. You are play-testing or just playing and all of sudden your sim decides they can't use the fridge or stove or whatever they have been using without problem for the entire time. All of sudden, " Oh no! I can't open the fridge that is completely unobstructed??!!" Anyone else have this problem? 🤬 Usually I just buy new one and they seem fine again but that is not working this time.

  • Kcity74  The object can become stuck, especially if you saved/quit/reloaded while it was in use, or if a sim using it became reset or even was just told to do something else at exactly the wrong time.  That's when buying a new one helps.

When it doesn't help, often there's a leftover jig in front of the object.  The easy test is to move the object elsewhere—if it works, there's something wrong with the space it was in.  Jigs are invisible but can be found with an NRaas MasterController Radius Purge.  One hint that one is there is that you can't click on the floor where it is.

  • Is there a tiny round shadow in the middle of the floor tile immediately in front of the object your sim can't use?  I sometimes get this problem. It is usually an item of food that has sunk under the floor - usually an apple. The radius purge method already mentioned would fix it.

  • Kcity74  As mentioned, if the problem is that the interactive item is stuck, it can be replaced, and if there's an unrelated item in the way (a plate or similar), you may be able to delete it directly or by deleting the surface or floor underneath.

If the problem is an invisible jig, the only way to remove it without mods is to save the house in Edit Town, then bulldoze and replace it.  That is of course not convenient for multiple reasons.

If you don't like mods in principle, that's fine, but if you simply don't want them to affect your game, MasterController does nothing at all until and unless you use it to issue a command.  It otherwise has no effect other than adding an NRaas menu to objects when you click them.

  • Kcity74 , I've had similar things happen to me as well where I can't figure out what is blocking something and it's so frustrating. What I usually do is start moving the items and the items around it away (and sometimes replacing with the new objects) and then I start deleting parts of the foundation/floor and just rebuild that one area. Sometimes I will find an object under a counter or something that I didn't know was there (as HotBlackSand mentioned). Not sure if this will help in your situation, but I can certainly sympathize with you on issues like this, lol. Good luck on finding the culprit!

Kcity74 ... That depends on what the item stuck in Sims 3 Limbo is ... If it is a plate, and you have the Supernatural Expansion Pack, and a Witch that can cast a Restoration Spell ... That will fix it. You can tell if the item stuck in limbo is a plate though ... Because your kitchen will start to stink (Disgusting Smell Moodlet) whether or not you can find the item.

Otherwise ... puzzleaddict's 'Radius Purge' advice would be the best option if you cannot find the item, or Reset doesn't work.

    Good Luck and Happy Simming!
