Sims Packaged Into CAW Worlds and Turning Occult

Alright so earlier today I made a thread about my experience with one certain custom world not turning any of the packaged sims into occults with the thought that it was a bug with the one world in question, and not a CAW problem. And now I'm not so sure after seeing the same result in other custom worlds that came packaged with sims.

Before I begin I just want to make it clear that I'm 100% not blaming any world builders for what is a pretty minor glitch for a game feature that's hardly well-liked, one that may be out of a builder's control entirely. I know that world building is hard and filling that world with sims in CAW is even harder.

For the record I am talking about the EA standard way of turning unplayed resident sims into occults via story progression. I haven't tried with mods but I also just want to get to the bottom of EA's own feature ya know? (also I don't use StoryProgression the mod for every save) I mentioned that new immigrants to the world would be eligible for being turned but only them, and I don't gain amusement from blank slate immigrants turning into vampires versus funny pre-made packaged sims. This was done without CC/mods/store DLC, just some custom worlds (Union Cove and Riverblossom Hills because I knew they came packaged with sims). I didn't mention that I cheated to get my active sim to know the whole town just to be sure of these facts but I guess I should.

Funny enough Riverblossom Hills comes with pre-made vampires but that had no effect on the results compared to Union Cove, which doesn't.

I also commented that I heard rumors (only those) of EA restricting its story progression on previously played sims but obviously I don't know if that's true and if the process of placing sims in a CAW world would even mark them as such. It's weird to me I guess. Maybe it has other implications too...who knows? I'm open to any thoughts.

Sims that are placed into a world from the Library sim bin are blocked from random occult turning as they are considered "possible active sims" as active sims are spared from most the tomfoolery that Story Progression puts inactive sims through. As long as they stay inactive they will still be subject to Story Progression just minus the occult turning unless you have a mods like Blugenjutsu's Auto Vampires and Auto Werewolves and have at least one vampire and werewolf in town they could turn sims on their own whether they do it or not that's a different story some do some don't.

Some remake worlds like Sunset Island has residents randomly turn into occults only because the creator took Sunset Valley from the games Program files instead of using CAW's pre packaged Sunset Valley Lite build world and left the original population intact by working around them.

    *Edit*
Just one thing I noticed about Nraas SP that it premanently shutdowns random occult turning even if you never turn on and only use it for the few functions that you can play with to manupulate EA's SP with. And even if you remove Nraas SP the random occult turning never turns back on.
  • I don't play with occult type sims so, I'm just guessing -
In the link to your other thread, you say you aren't using the updated version of Union Cove. I would think the version with Supernatural expack would be the way to go.
Riverblossom Hills is a very old world (2011) not sure Supernatural was even out then.
Will refer you to post #4 in this thread - http://modthesims.info/t/551882

Hi, this also happened in the updated world, and that only added Supernatural's buildings as far as I know. It doesn't seem like it's a matter of world age but I'm willing to test it out I guess.

@ScottDemon I regret that I have but one Insightful rating to give :heartbreak: I figured that it had to do with packaging and saving to the library or at least importing and assigning skills/relationships/etc. I'm not really heartbroken over the thing (I have workarounds for the things I want to do as a game player) but not having the answer killed me more. Thank you again!
