So...what exactly causes corruption of save games?

I noticed that in TS3, my saves tend to corrupt/bug out after a certain amount of time. Like I created one and played it for a significant amount of time until it got corrupted to the point of unplaya...

Crash Log Analyzer told me my game crashed because of custom content...which is weird because I didn't add anything new and the game hasn't crashed all this time before. Oh well, I now removed all my custom content, let's see if it works better now.
