sims 3 newby

hi, i recently got sims 3 and it keeps freezing (ive only played once!) and wont load probably. wont go past the sign in page... has anyone else experienced and if so what should i do to stop this from happening? 

it has also come up saying that something as gone wrong with one of the worlds and i need to reset sims 3, which i have tried to do but not sure ive done it right 

i have chnaged setting and everything and im on a laptop.
