Steam sale, all Sims 3 content (until July 9)

Thank you puzzlezaddict,

Despite owning everything Origin as you now know I have been buying S3 steam games a little at a time when they come on sale in case I want to jump ship and I never know there is a sale unless someone posts about it :)

It always happens when I'm broke. :D
Although that bundle is quite nice! Might get that, and then wait
for the rest.If I decide to go to the steam way and get rid of origin, I could move my saved folder over correct?

I am not positive but I think if you buy packs on steam you can add the games to your origin account but not the other way around. I am sure another player will have more knowledge on this..

if the SP's are cheaper than Origin and you are currently playing on origin then yes you will obviously save money :)

@GraceyManor Yes, you could copy your Sims 3 folder to a Steam save and everything would be fine. You might have to redownload and reinstall your store content as that is connected to your Sims 3 account and it would be a different base game code. If you register the Steam game code on the Sims 3 website that might take care of that problem.

@SPARKY1922 Put one of the SP's or EPs that you don't have on your Steam wishlist and you'll get an email everytime there's a sale!

@SPARKY1922 Your store content would be available as long as you register your Steam Sims 3 base game code on The Sims 3 website. I have 3 different editions of store content - my desktop is disc only, my husband's desktop is the Origin version, and my laptop has the Steam downloads. Don't know if that was needed but I wanted to be sure!

I could not help myself I just bought the rest of the series 3 on steam that I did not already own for peanuts really now I have my back up plan in case I have to ditch Origin (unless I experience the same issues with the steam game I do with origin-) :|

@gwtwdbss - You must own the Steam version of the base game, even if it's not installed and you have no intention of installing it, in order to purchase any EP/SPs. Of course that requirement doesn't count if the bundle in question includes the base game, but it would for those that do not. If the Steam version base game ownership requirement is not met, then the packs (or bundles that have no base game included) just won't show up as available to be purchased within the Steam client program.

AND...

even then, you STILL need erase every trace and spot from every nook and cranny that was from the ORIGIN version of the game.

So far, I've deleted EVERYTHING with "Sims3" on it (except my pics). I haven't deleted my "saves" folder YET - since I don't know if they would be interchangable between the two versions (please let me know) And also the "saved Sims" folder.

I went ahead and bought (but not YET installed) my STEAM version of Sims3 - with it being cheap as chips right now!

Is there anything else I might have overlooked during my Sims3 uninstallation?

I'm not installing my STEAM version, if ORIGIN is just going to hi-jack it!
