Strange flickering in my game all of a sudden

I suddenly have some flickering on objects in the game, which I haven't had before.
I'm afraid it might be my fault, I was having some crashing(due to overstuffed household I think)
Someone on the what happened in your game thread told me to try and change my page files to fix it.
And I followed their tutorial...but didn't like what it did, so I restored it back to the settings.
And since then I been having this issue

My game is lagging because its a new save just started.

1.This is a brand new sims folder, with only Nraas mods installed.
2.This is a custom world, but it does it in Sunset Valley as well.
3.I tried it without the mods folder installed.

  • I know it's been a while (sorry), and it looks like you already reset your computer, but just in case you're wondering, changing the page file shouldn't cause this glitch under any circumstances, and it definitely wouldn't have this effect if you reverted the settings.

In the future, the first step is to see whether your graphics driver updated, and if so, whether your existing Nvidia Control Panel settings are still in effect. At worst, you could clean uninstall and reinstall the driver, but even that shouldn't be necessary.

II had tried the page file thingy because someone recommended it for game crashing. :D

Resetting my pc wasn't for the issue above, something went funky with my wifi adapter, and the tech agent I did remote control with, decided it would be best to reset my PC, so that's what we did. I wasn't able to connect to wifi for 4 days I had to use a hotspot.

Since resetting I haven't had the wifi issue

However, I think this flickering is something do with the world. As I noticed that another simmer(on youtube) has
    the same flickering.

My current issue is the jagged edges on objects even with edge smoothing on, I had to download rehade and use their FXAA to get to look somewhat tolerable lol.

I still have this flickering but I think its just the worlds, SV does and so does Alpine County, but Isle Paradiso doesn't do it.Riverview doesn't do it either.
  • So you were seeing jagged edges even with the usual Nvidia Control Panel settings to fix it?

    Antialiasing - FXAA: On
    Antialiasing - Gamma correction: On
Antialiasing - Mode: Override any Application Setting
    Antialiasing - Setting: 2x

But if you're happy with Reshade, that works too. Your graphics card should be able to handle it as long as you don't go totally overboard.

And it's true that some worlds have flickering like that for no apparent reason. Another approach you can try is using a lighting mod; I don't know whether it would help, but it's easy enough to switch among different mods to test.

I'll try that and see if that helps.I think I had those on before.
I only use reshade for this particular issue, so hopefully it's fine.

  • I wouldn't worry about overworking your GPU, exactly; it should be able to handle running at close to 100% load for hours at a time as long as it can adequately cool itself. On that note, if you remember hwinfo, you can run that while you play to see the card's temperature and core load, along with a lot of other stats that you probably don't care about at all.

I was more saying that if you increase the load on your GPU to the point that it's running at or close to max capacity, you might notice fps drops in-game. But as long as the card isn't overheating, there's no danger in experimenting.
  • Oh okay, =) Yeah my temps run around 60 when I got sims going.
So I tried those settings it actually made it worse(Without reshade in at the moment)
  • Strange that those settings don't help, but then Sims 3 is strange. And 60º C is perfectly fine for a graphics card.
