Stylist Career Questions

I just started a sim in the stylist profession for the first time and don't really know what I'm doing. First job was the get this lady new shoes I took her to the station and did just that, but I got a negative result. How on earth and I supposed to know what shoes would be good? Very confused.

Another issue I am having is taking pictures for the portfolio. I read that you have to take pictures of your jobs and since I don't have the WA EP, i am stuck using the phone camera. I cant figure out how to take one with it. I cant pause everything to take a good shot. I just tried taking the picture and the lady walked out of the room. Not only that, but I was in back of her anyway. So that is another problem I can't figure out. This is aggrevating!

Your sim has to make friends with the client in order to get a good review, or at least get the interactions up to friendly. I'm not quite sure which. The charisma skill can help with that. You don't need a camera for portfolio photos. When the notification comes up that your sim needs a photo for their portfolio, I believe you need to just click on that, or else on the portfolio itself. It's been a while, so I don't remember for sure how it's done, but back when Ambitions came out, there were no cameras or cell phone cameras, and that was not a problem.
  • It can be amusing making outfits for sims. They will like the oddest things and hate the pretty stuff that I like! It does help to have charisma up so you can get friendly with them quicker. Discover their traits and favorites helps too. Sometimes it can be a pain trying to make friends if they need to go off to work though. Just click on the option when the picture option comes up. You don't even have to take a picture of the shoes so don't worry about lining up the shots. Taking the picture is what counts for the portfolio not what is in the picture. Silly sims.
  • It's been forever since I played the stylist profession, but I do remember that sims would occasionally signal their approval of a clothing choice the same way they do in CAS. (They look at their arms or legs and make approving noises.) I always thought that if you got this reaction while styling a client, you were more likely to get a positive review. Unfortunately, the sims' preferred styles were often as ill-conceived as the ones the game rolls on its own.

Also, if you want to move your sim up the career ladder more quickly, and maybe get offered better assignments, using the drafting table will grant job experience as well, and your sims can use it outside of work hours.
