I agree with quite a bit of what you have said. When I heard Sims 4 was coming out, I was actually a little disappointed because I figured it would mean less effort put into Sims 3 additions. I had the original Sims with every expansion pack, and Sims 2 with every expansion and some of the stuff packs. Even with Sims 3, I realized it was becoming a bit of a rip-off, and with less expendable income (and without my parents to buy them all for me), I stopped purchasing expansions after Pets. When I saw the trailers for Sims 4, I agreed they looked pretty cool, but I am happy with Sims 3, thanks largely in part to the vast amount of custom content I have for it. I wasn't really considering buying Sims 4, knowing that it would have bugs and I'd have to wait for some decent custom content to be released before it was worth it. After hearing about the removal of toddlers, who are pretty much my favorite lifestage to play, I absolutely refuse to purchase it. I agree, this setup of intentionally leaving out features just so that they need to be purchased separately as an expansion pack is total BS. Then again, I can't tell others what they should or shouldn't do with their money, but I certainly won't be using mine for Sims 4.
