Nope, legacy challenged happened a few months after Sim2 release if I remember correctly. Most of us simmers were bored of the game and it was definitely a new and fun way to play, which is why we love Pinstar so much.
Its sad that there's so many people bored of the game this early. Hopefully this challenge will motivate people to keep creating and playing like it did with the Sims 2. Personally I've already played till my founder turned elder. I'm working on uploading her story on livejournal, then I'll focus back on making generation 3.
