Something I noticed that keeps happening over and over again in these forums is people keep asking questions of a certain type. I hope to answer that entire type of question myself, so it clears up all confusion for this type of question.
Now first to establish the type of question, people keep asking questions like "Can I do X during the challenge, even though your rules say that I shouldn't be doing that, because of reason Y?"
Now lets be clear here, the only person scoring the challenge is yourself. Pinstar isn't going to score you, and nor is anyone else going to be able to do so fairly because you would still have to provide them with proof of every little thing that adds or subtracts from your score. The game isn't even going to come up and say after ten generations of following Pinstar's rules of "You win the Legacy Challenge, your final score was 10 points."
What this means is that if you want to do X during YOUR legacy challenge, and you feel Y is a good enough reason, then go ahead and do it. Nobody in the sims community is going to mind overly much if you say "Instead of creating a sim using CAS, I had the Goths kick out their kid, and I played as him as my founder for the Legacy Challenge, here is his and his families story."
As a matter of fact, it might become one of the most read stories if you are a good writer.
Now on the other hand, don't get me wrong this type of question is not the same as "We should or shouldn't all be able to do X during your challenge because of Y."
For instance, during the original legacy challenge there was a glitch with some of the older lots, and there was some work around that had been aloud in the event of those glitches, but not to be used just because you wanted to.
So ya, if you see something about his rules that you feel needs to be changed for everyone, go ahead and bring it up as a question. But if it's something that just affects you, I say go ahead and do it if you really feel your reason is good enough. But don't claim you are doing Pinstar's Legacy Challenge at that point. Just say you are doing a Modified Legacy Challenge and perhaps mention some of the rules you've changed for yourself.
((As a final little joke, sure sure go right ahead and use the money cheat 18 thousand times during the first generation and say this is just a slight modification to the Legacy Challenge.))
